New Medical Colleges for Uttar Pradesh in the Works: CM Yogi Adityanath

UP CM Yogi Adityanath, while answering a question, announced that the government is focused on introducing one new medical college in each of the 75 districts of the state. While announcing the goal, CM Adityanath stated that 29 medical colleges have either been set up or are under construction.

New Medical Colleges in UP

With the aim of enhancing and the quality of the medical industry in the state, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath announced projects to establish new medical colleges in UP . He stated that the Legislative Council has been working towards establishing new medical colleges in various districts of the state.

During question hour, answering a supplementary question, Uttar Pradesh was home to only 12 medical colleges, between 1947 and 2016, stated Adityanath. Adding to the statement, 29 medical colleges have been established or are under construction. He stated that the effort is an achievement for the government. He added that the objective of the government is to establish a medical college in each one of the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

However, the quality of the medical industry does not end at establishing new medical colleges. UP govt. has also been planning on making it mandatory for MBBS graduates to sign bonds. Through the bonds, the MBBS graduates will be asked to provide their services at different rural areas of the state, stated CM Yogi Adityanath.

Further adding to the achievements in enhancing the medical sector, the UP CM stated that the state has recently concluded admissions to seven new medical colleges, which was aimed at addressing the shortage of qualified doctors in the state.

Across India, state governments have been focusing on increasing the number of MBBS seats available in medical colleges scattered across the nation. Recently, Tamil Nadu announced that the 150 new MBBS seats will be added to two medical colleges in the state, totalling up to over 600 new MBBS seats in the state.
