The Hon’ble Vice President of India, Mr Venkaiah Naidu on 16th August visited the historic Visva Bharti University in Shantiniketan, West Bengal which was founded by the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. He went there to inaugurate the ‘Shyamali’ building which is recently renovated. Shyamali, which means ‘Greenery’ in Bengali was the name of a mud hut which Tagore used as a retreat for his Summer-Stay in the proximity of nature. The building, named by the legendary poet himself also hosted Mahatma Gandhi as a guest on his visit to Visva Bharati.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu, in a note given to the Visitors’ book, wrote that the place embodies peace, nationalism and the love for nature.
The vice president also tweeted from his official twitter handle a picture where he is seen with the faculties of Visva Bharti inaugurating the newly renovated building. He, in the tweet, expressing the joy of visiting the residing place of ‘Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore,’ said that ‘Shyamoli’ of Viswa Bharati, Shantiniketan, is the ancestral house of Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore. The building is now renovated by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), dedicated to the Nation, today.
In the ceremony, the hon’ble vice president said that he felt emotional and honoured to visit the place Shyamali, the place where not only Rabindranath stayed but also visited by Mahatma Gandhi for various discussions on different issues between the two great souls.

Naidu also added that this place is an inspiration for all Indians to get motivated with the cause of peace, nationalism and the love for mother nature.
