Vidyasagar Evening College organised A day long State Level Seminar on "A roadmap from Ancient Indian mathematics to the Birth of Real Analysis" recently.
The State Level Seminar was arranged by the Department of Mathematics of the College.The main vision of the seminar was to throw some lights on an Ancient use of Mathematical calculations & analysis and its different forms which have its roots from Ancient India.The Seminar took over a detailed analysis of ancient Mathematics like Vedic forms of calculation and mathematical formats etc.
The Seminar was graced with the presence of renowned mathematicians like Dr. Sarbari Ghosh, Prof. Manjusha Majumdar of Department of Pure Mathematics of the University of Calcutta and Prof. Sashi Mohan Srivastava from Statistics and Mathematics Unit of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.The Programme started from 11.00AM in the morning at the Seminar Hall of the New Building in the college premises.
The welcome address was provided by the principal of the college Dr. Ram Swarup Gangopadhyay. After that, there was the Technical Session which was conducted by Prof. Manjusha Majumdar. Prof Majumdar spoke about the roots of Ancient Indian Mathematics followed by another Technical Session by Prof. Sashi Mohan Srivastava. Prof. Srivastava discussed the real analysis of the trends of Ancient Indian Mathematics. All the Interactive sessions were attended by the students, alumnus, and faculties of the colleges. Famous educationists and laureates were also present in the event.
