VIT University Signs MoU with AIT, China to Offer Engineering, Management Courses

To provide extensive programmes in the domain Mechanical & Building Sciences and Computer Science & Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has collaborated with China’s Anyang Institute of Technology.

Assistant Vice-President of VIT-Chennai, Kadhambari S and Vice-President of AIT-China, Xue-Zhi Li signed a MoU that will facilitate the courses mentioned above.

Talking about the collaboration between the two universities, Ms. Kadhambari said that this will allow both the institutions to conduct summer courses in the field of engineering, management and languages. The association of the two universities will also help in organizing student and faculty exchange programmes of areas relevant for both the institutions.

The collaboration has also been started to encourage research initiatives in domains of mutual interest such as Engineering, Science, Management, Technology and Humanities.

AIT is not the first Chinese university that VIT has collaborated with. The University also has pacts with 14 other prominent Chinese institutes and Universities including Wuhan University and Sichuan University.

Close to 450 Chinese students are currently enrolled at VIT. The institute has been building relationships with Chinese universities for the past 12 years. Chinese students have been applying for the institute due to reasonable expenditure, excellent placement record and attraction towards India culture.

Chinese students who enroll at VIT are provided with a three-month language course that enhances their understanding of English. This enables the students to understand the lectures provided by the university. VIT is also planning to start a Chinese center where native students will be able to learn basic Chinese.
