The Civil Engineering Department of VR Siddhartha Institute of Engineering and Technology organized a two-day International conference on Smart Sustainable Cities at college Seminar hall on 26 th Feb 2016 and 27 th Feb 2016. The HOD of civil engineering department, Sri.Chava Srinivasulu was the coordinator of the conference. The conference was jointly organized by the college and Andhra Pradesh Capital Regional Development authority.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri.Veera Pandyan IAS, Commissioner, Vijayawada. Addressing the gathering he said that, “It is essential to make Vijayawada as a Smart city as new capital Amaravathi is very close to Vijayawada”. He motivated the future civil engineers to have an idea about Smart city and sustainability.
Around 220 delegates from various states and 20 delegates from Malaysia and Singapore were present there and presented their papers on the theme of the conference.
Students from the host college also presented their papers and power point presentations on the Master Plan of New Capital- Amaravathi
Students of civil engineering department, faculty, Print and electronic media were present for the conference.
