On Tuesday, the second day of the West Bengal board's Class 10 examinations, a rumored image of the English question paper surfaced on social media, roughly an hour before the subject's scheduled commencement. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), which administers the exam, denied that the question paper had been leaked, claiming that the document circulating on social media was a forgery that bore no relation to the original.
The incident occurred as internet services were temporarily suspended in some parts of the state to prevent cheating in the 'Madhyamik' examination. At roughly 10.30 a.m., more than an hour before the examination, a supposed photograph of the questions from the second language English paper appeared on several guardian's WhatsApp groups.

According to a board employee, the post originated in the Malda district. The distributed image, according to WBBSE President Kalyanmoy Ganguly, was a hoax. "This is nothing more than a hoax. The question paper had not been leaked. The examinations went off without a hitch "he stated. On March 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, the state administration has imposed an internet service ban in specified areas of the state from 11 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. - the time and dates of the class 10 board exam. After some examination centers in Malda and Murshidabad districts allegedly leaked Madhyamik examination question papers on social media platforms in 2019 and 2020, the move became necessary. Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases, the examination could not be held last year. "After a year's break, we're holding the offline tests again. Last year, students were unable to appear for exams. Any attempt to sabotage the process would be met with swift retaliation "he stated.
