Freeze after JoSAA Seat Allotment 2024: If a candidate is allotted a seat in any of the initial four counselling rounds, they must report online to update their status of seat acceptance. What is 'Freeze' after JoSAA Second Seat Allotment 2024?

As it suggests, Freeze implies that the currently allotted seat will be confirmed. Freeze in JoSAA should only be opted if the candidate is completely satisfied with the current allocation i.e., the candidate wants no further change in institute and branch. Upon selecting the Freeze option, the seat will be finalised. The candidate must take admission within the scheduled dates.

Instructions for Freeze in JoSAA Seat Allotment 2024

If willing to opt for the Freeze option in JoSAA 2024, the following instructions shall be noted:

  • No change in seat allocation concerning institute or branch can be made after opting for Freeze.

  • If a candidate is allotted his/her first preference as per choice filling, then it is mandatory to select the Freeze option only. The other options of Float or Slide do not apply to such candidates. Failure to confirm Freeze status will be treated as seat rejection.

  • If a candidate allotted first preference does not want the allocation, then he/she can reject the seat. Such candidates will be disqualified from all further JoSAA counselling rounds. Their current allocation will stand cancelled as well.

  • If a candidate is not allotted the first preference but is satisfied with the allocation, then he/she can Freeze their seat. Such candidates also will be ineligible for the next rounds of counselling.

  • In Round 5, students will only have “Freeze” or “Reject” options for online reporting.

  • To confirm the selection of the Freeze option, candidates must upload all required documents and pay the “Seat Acceptance Fee”.

  • Non-payment of the seat acceptance fee is treated as seat rejection. Failure to report online will also be treated as seat rejection.

  • The seat acceptance fee is Rs 35,000/- for General, EWS, and OBC categories and Rs 17,500/- for SC, ST, and PwD categories.

  • The seat acceptance fee includes Rs 5,000/- as JoSAA processing charges while the remaining Rs 30,000/- (or Rs. 12,500/-) will be adjusted in institute fees at the time of admission.

  • The fee must only be paid via Debit card / UPI / Credit card / Net Banking / E-Challan.

  • Fee payment is applicable only once throughout the counselling, when the seat is allotted for the first time.

  • If a query is raised by JoSAA officers (received in candidate login), it must be responded to within the given deadline. Failure to do so will lead to the cancellation of the current seat allotment. Such candidates will be disqualified from subsequent counselling rounds as well.
