Expressing his views on gender equality at work, CEO of Google, Mr. Sundar Pichai pointed that women should play an indispensable role in technology. Gender equality comes with both men and women working equally for the development of technology, he added.
Mr. Sundar Pichai was addressing a gathering at the World Economic Forum, where he expressed his views on different topics. During his address, one of the participants questioned Mr. Pichai whether Google is ready to pay more tax or not. Answering the question, Mr. Pichai responded that tax is a big question. At present, Google pays 20% tax and Mr. Pichai feels that the company is paying a higher amount in the form of tax. The amount of tax the company pays does not matter much and the only thing that matters is the way we divide it, he added.

Mr. Sundar Pichai termed himself as an optimist for the future of technology, internet and Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to him, AI is one of the most important things humanity has ever worked on. AI is more profound than fire or electricity, he expressed.

Google has also been playing a fundamental role in promoting research in Indian institutes. Recently, the company announced that it would grant Rs. 65 lakh to Dr. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) for promoting research work. The company has also launched Software Internship Programme for final-year engineering students. It was a good opportunity for the final-year UG engineering students to associate with Google. The 12-month duration internship programme will help the students to acquire crucial skills in the field of technology.
