Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, held its fifth convocation ceremony on 27th March 2019, Wednesday. Around 688 students were a part of the convocation. These students belonged to various courses like business management, global MBA, doctoral programme, human resource management, executive MBA, rural management, mass communication, sustainability management, masters in business finance, and urban management and governance.
The chief guest for the occasion was Sanjiv Mehta, who is the Managing Director and Chairman at Hindustan Unilever Limited. He advised the graduating students to focus primarily on creating value and not only valuation. He said that valuation always follows when the value is created.
The students were advised by the guests of the event and they were given some teachings. They were told about ten essential learnings for succeeding in life. Those ten things are discovering your purpose, following your passion, following the right even if it is harder and the wrong is easier, valuing your roots, not being afraid of failures, being ambitious as ambition is the key to success, embracing, focusing on execution, focusing on creating value and not just valuation, and remaining a student always.
Sanjiv Mehta presented the meritorious students with medals and it was followed by a presentation of graduates for the several courses by the deans.

Rajive Kaul, Chairman of the Board of Governors of XUB, spoke a few words on the economic scenario that the world is seeing. He showed his faith in the nation’s youth and said India has a massive population that is young and the middle class is growing rapidly. He said he was sure that the students will be playing important roles in enhancing the growth of India.

Xavier University, Bhubaneswar was founded as per the Xavier University Act of 2013 and it was inaugurated on 7th July 2014.
