A yoga wellness centre was inaugurated at The Govt Ayurvedic College and Hospital , Jalukbari in collaboration with the National Ayush Mission. Chief Guest VK Pipersenia, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, inaugurated the centre formally.
Mr. Pipersenia, in his speech, highlighted the significance of Yoga in a mental and physical development and overall well-being of an individual. This, in turn, would help in the creation of a healthy Assam in the broader perspective, he said. Along with this, he also laid stress on the need of good-quality yoga teachers in the State so that they can go to the villages and encourage more and more people in practising Yoga.
The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Lakshmanan S, Director, National Ayush Mission in which he highlighted the aims and objectives of the meeting.
MGVK Bhanu, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam,and many noted officials attended the meeting. The vote of Thanks was offered by Dr Anil Kr Sarma, Head, Swasthavritta and Yoga Dept.
Yoga is an invaluable gift from old Indian tradition. It is believed to be a complementary intervention to many known diseases like cancer, heart disease, mental illness etc. This initiative of setting up a Yoga Wellness Centre on the campus will not only be helpful in the prevention of diseases but also benefit people in maintaining a healthy and balanced life.
