Is there any upper age limit for doing LLB? I am a graduate (B.Sc), with age 51 years and working experience of 29 years and I want to pursue 3 years LLB. Where I can apply for admission? Will I also have to sit for entrance examination?

Dear student,

Yes, you can enrol in a course of Bachelor of Law (LL.B) without any problem. Some law colleges in India set an upper age limit for candidates for admission to their LLB course but there are many law schools in the country at which age is no bar. The Bar Council of India (BCI) had withdrawn age restriction for students for taking admission to law courses. Hence, almost all universities follow those guidelines.

In order to be eligible for LLB admission in India, a candidate must have an undergraduate degree in any stream from a recognised university. His/ her aggregate score should not be less than 45 or 50 per cent. If you meet these eligibility criteria, you can apply for admission at any law college.

Depending upon the college in which you seek admission, you might have to appear for a law entrance examination. Some colleges accept national-level law exams, some consider state-level law exams, while some conduct their own institute-level examinations for shortlisting candidates. There are many colleges which conduct admissions on the basis of the marks scored by candidates in their qualifying degree or through a round of an interview.

If you are looking for the best law college for yourself, fill the Common Application Form (CAF) through which you can apply to many colleges. An admissions expert will contact you and help you in finding the ideal college for yourself based on your preferences.

For any admission related queries, call on the toll-free student helpline number 1800-572-9877. Please write back to us if you have any other doubts.

Thank you.
