AIBE Passing Marks

The Bar Council of India has announced the AIBE 19 passing marks 2024. According to the BCI, the passing marks for AIBE 19 (XIX) are 45% for General and OBC candidates and 40% for SC and ST candidates. Therefore, any candidate who has taken the exam will have to score the AIBE minimum qualifying marks to successfully pass the exam.

The All India Bar Examination or AIBE 2024 was held on December 22, 2024 in an offline mode. The conducting body is expected to release the AIBE 19 exam result 2024 tentatively by April 7, 2025. All candidates who have appeared for the exam must be aware that scoring higher than the AIBE XIX (19) passing marks is mandatory to pass the exam and become eligible for the Certificate of Practice (CoP).

After passing the AIBE exam, candidates receive a Certificate of Practice (CoP) that grants them the eligibility to practice law in any court across India. To pass the AIBE 2024 exam, one has to at least score the minimum marks decided by the conducting body. The Bar Council of India (BCI) is the authority responsible for carrying out the All India Bar Examination every year. It also decides the AIBE passing marks for all categories. What is AIBE 19 Passing Marks 2024?

The Bar Council of India has established the minimum passing marks for AIBE 19 (XIX). Those scoring below the qualifying threshold of AIBE XIX (19) will not pass the exam and will have to retake it. Candidates can take multiple attempts until they attain the necessary AIBE passing marks, ensuring a fair chance to meet the examination's standards.

However, suppose errors in certain questions are identified during the final evaluation, resulting in their exclusion. In that case, the passing marks of that AIBE exam will be adjusted accordingly to accommodate the change in total marks.

Factors Determining AIBE 19 Passing Marks 2024

The AIBE 19 passing marks depend on several factors and these determinants play a significant role.

  • Minimum Passing Criteria - The category-wise minimum marks required by the individual to pass the AIBE 2024 exam and be eligible to be granted the Certificate of Practice.

  • Discrepancies in AIBE Answer Keys - Before the AIBE results are announced, BCI releases provisional answer keys for students to analyze their performance. If students find any discrepancy in the AIBE answer key, then they can raise their objections by following the procedure prescribed by the conducting body. If found correct, the authorities will take into account the challenges raised by students which may lead to a modification in the passing marks for AIBE.

  • Total Questions of Result Evaluation - The AIBE passing marks also change if the total number of questions is modified. All the questions which have errors are not counted at the time of final evaluation. Let us understand this with a simple example. If during AIBE 2024, 5 questions had errors, they will be dropped from the final evaluation. The total marks of the exam will then be reduced to 95 which originally according to the exam pattern was 100. This will also change the passing marks of AIBE accordingly.
