What is OMR-based Test (Offline)?
Offline Mode examinations or Pen & Paper based tests are typically conducted in two forms depending on the type of questions asked in the examination. Examinations that have a larger concentration of Multiple Choice Questions or only feature MCQs use the OMR-based Test format. The Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) based test format is quite popular and has been used for some of the most well-known competitive exams in India including the Common Admission Test, Joint Entrance Examination, etc. The CTET examination will also use the OMR-based Test format as per the announcement by the exam conducting body.
In an OMR-based Test, candidates are required to fill in their answers by marking dots pertaining to different questions on the question paper. One of the most important aspects of an OMR-based test is that candidates must be careful when filling out the options since the mechanism that is used to capture the answers given by the candidates has been known to record responses other than the marked ones if the OMR sheet is not filled out properly. Candidates must adhere to the instructions given on the OMR sheet when answering questions and if they find it confusing they may also ask the invigilator for assistance.

Apart from the instructions mentioned on the OMR sheet candidates must also be aware of several other guidelines when appearing for an OMR-based Test like the CTET 2024 exam. Check out the CTET 2024 offline test instructions mentioned below:

- Refrain from using pencils to mark your answers unless specified, in which case just stick to HB or 2B pencils only.
- Never use whiteners to rectify errors on the OMR sheet as they may disrupt the scanning and evaluation process.
- Writing on the OMR Sheet is only permitted in the specified area only. Even small marks in areas that are not supposed to be written on may create problems during the scanning process.
- Candidates are instructed not to write anything on specific areas on the OMR sheet. Do not do any rough work on these demarcated areas.
- Do not fold the OMR Sheet.
- Refrain from making any stray marks on the OMR answer sheet.
- Multiple markings are invalid and will lead to issues with the scanning process.
- Ensure that the invigilator has signed your OMR Answer Sheet or it will be cancelled.
