What is the full form of MBBS?
MBBS full form is Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. The reason why it is popularly abbreviated as MBBS instead of BMBS is that the course name has been taken from a Latin word Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae.

About MBBS Admission in India 2023
MBBS admission 2023 is done through a national-level entrance exam called NEET-UG. It is held on a national level. Students have to appear for the exam to bag a chance at MBBS admission in India. Only those aspirants are allowed to appear for the test who are least 17 years old. The upper age limit cap has been removed for NEET 2023 basis the latest NEET eligibility criteria.
Once the NEET exam result is out, the NTA releases cutoff scores and merit lists . Based on the merit list, counselling round is held. The central admissions are offered via the 15% AIQ (All India Quota), while different states conduct their own MBBS admissions through State Quota for 85% quota seats. All the colleges participating in NEET offer seats to candidates through the counselling process and seat allotment process . Finally, once the seats are filled, the admissions close.

NEET UG 2023 Eligibility Criteria
- Students should complete their 10+2 exam by securing at least a minimum of 50% of passing marks from any recognized board.
- Aspirants must have opted for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany+Zoology) as compulsory subjects in 11th and 12th standard.
- Reserved category aspirants are granted 10% relaxation (40% in class 12th).
- Students must be of at least 17 years of age
- No upper limit is set for NEET UG exam

Detailed MBBS Admission Process 2023
Applications:
The MBBS admission process in India begins with NEET registrations.
Once candidates have filled their applications, the NTA provides them with an application form correction window a few days after the registration deadline.
It is necessary for aspirants to complete their registrations before the deadline.
Entrance Exam/ NEET-UG:
After the registrations, the next step in the admission process is taking the exam.
To take the exam, candidates will have to download their NEET Admit Cards from the NTA portal.
Without the possession of this document, candidates will not be permitted inside the examination hall.
Result/ Cutoff/ Merit List:
After the examination, the NTA releases the NEET results.
The cutoff marks and merit lists are also released along with or soon after the results.
Those who make it to the cutoff/ merit lists are considered eligible for the next step in the admission process.
Counselling/ Seat Allotment:
Finally, based on the cutoff scores and merit lists, the counselling of NEET-UG or MBBS admissions begins.
Centralised counselling is conducted for the NEET All India Quota seats.
For states, counselling is conducted for the State Quota seats.
After candidates are allocated seats, they are required to pay the admission fee and get their documents verified for seat confirmation.
