GAT-B & BET 2024 Exam Day Instructions

GAT-B & BET 2024 are national entrance exams held each year in the participating institutions for admission to the Department of Biotechnology, the sponsored Post Graduate Program in Biotechnology, and related fields. The official notification of the GAT-B & BET 2024 was released in February 2024. The GAT-B & BET 2024 application form was released on February 08, 2024. GAT-B & BET 2024 will be held on April 20, 2024 in computer-based mode (CBT). The GAT-B/BET 2024 exam will be conducted for 3 hours. Candidates appearing for the exam must check the GAT-B & BET 2024 exam day instructions for a successful exam.

GAT-B & BET 2024 Exam Day Instructions

Candidates taking the GAT-B and BET 2024 exam should be informed of the exam timings so that they do not miss anything. This is the most important GAT-B & BET 2024 exam day instructions are mentioned below.

  • Candidates appearing for the exam will be required to adhere to certain guidelines and will be requested to be at the GAT examination centre at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the exam so that officials can check their documents and the temperature.
  • Standard Operating Procedures will be implemented for applying safety precautions and maintaining the required level of hygiene.
  • A two-seat space has been maintained in accordance with GOI requirements.
  • Hand sanitizers are offered at the entrance and inside the exam location for the safety of staff and applicants.
  • To maintain social distancing rules, all processes are touch-free.
  • Candidates are encouraged to arrive at the reporting/entry time to avoid crowding.
  • Before entering, each candidate received a new three-ply mask.

GAT-B and BET 2024 Important Guidelines

GAT-B & BET 2024 exam day instructions and guidelines issued by the officials and examination authority to be followed by the candidates are mentioned below:

  • Before attending the examination, candidates are recommended to carefully read the instructions stated on the Admit Card and adhere to them.
  • Candidates are advised to follow all COVID-19 preventive/safety measures mentioned by the authorities before appearing for the GAT-B and BET 2024 exam.
  • Candidates should not be in possession of any of the forbidden materials on the list.
  • Inside the Examination Centre, candidates are not permitted to bring any luggage. NTA shall not be held liable for any items stolen or misplaced on the premises.
  • To avoid crowding at the Examination Center, candidates must arrive at the time specified on the GAT-B and BET 2024 Admit Card.
  • Candidates must be at the testing centres on or before the scheduled reporting time.
  • After 08:30 a.m. for GAT-B 2024 and 02:30 p.m. for BET-2024, candidates will not be permitted to enter the Examination Center.
  • Candidates should be aware that they will not be able to enter the Examination premises late under any circumstances. The NTA will not be held liable for any delays in the candidate's attendance at the centre owing to any reason.
  • Candidates should familiarise themselves with the exam center's location and arrange their travel time accordingly.
  • All candidates' biometric information will be collected. Upon arriving at the exam centre, identity checks will be performed to guarantee that no unauthorized applicants are taking the test. Candidates must work cooperatively with security professionals during security checks.
  • For entering the Examination room/hall, the candidate must show the GAT-B and BET 2024 admit card upon demand. Candidates who do not have a valid Admit Card will be denied entry to the Examination Center.
  • Candidates should take their seats on their designated seat as soon as the Examination Hall doors open. They will most likely miss some of the general instructions that will be announced in the Examination Rooms/Halls if they do not do so. Any delays will not be the responsibility of the NTA.
  • Any candidate found to have changed rooms/halls or seats other than those allotted on their own would be judged to have used unfair means, and their nomination will be cancelled with no appeal.
  • The candidate must sign and put the photograph in the relevant place on the Attendance Sheet.
  • The candidate should double-check that the question paper on the computer corresponds to the examination chosen on the Admit Card. The subject of the question paper may be brought to the attention of the invigilator concerned if it is not the opted examination.
  • All computations and writing work must be done on the rough sheet provided at the centre in the Examination Room/Hall, and candidates must hand over the rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the Room/Hall when the test is completed.
  • Without special permission from the Centre Superintendent or the Invigilator in charge, no candidate will leave his or her seat or the Examination Room/Hall until the entire paper has been completed. Candidates must completely follow the instructions of the Centre Superintendent/Invigilators.
  • Only registered candidates will be permitted to enter the Examination Center. Friends or relatives accompanying applicants are not permitted to enter the test centre under any circumstances and are not permitted to contact the candidate during the examination procedure.
  • The candidate must arrive at the Centre on the date and time specified on their NTA-issued Admit Card at their own expense. There will be no TA, DA, or accommodation assistance available for GAT-B and BET 2024.
  • Each candidate will be seated at a workstation with a computer terminal and given five sheets of paper to conduct rough work on at the test centre. On the Rough Sheets, candidates must write their Roll Number and name. After the test, the candidate must place the Rough Papers in the designated dropbox. Nothing will be allowed within the Examination Room/Hall, hence rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet.
  • In terms of their conduct in the Examination Hall, candidates must follow the NTA's Rules and Regulations/Instructions. All cases of unequal treatment will be handled according to the rules.
  • Candidates who submit fraudulent or forged information will have their applications rejected, and they will also be prevented from taking any NTA examinations.
  • Even though the Admit Card has been provided by the NTA, the NTA has the right to revoke any authorization granted mistakenly to any applicant who is not entitled to appear in the GAT-B and BET 2024 exam.
  • The interpretation of the RCB/NTA shall be final and binding in the event of any ambiguity in the interpretation of any of the instructions/terms/rules/criteria regarding the determination of eligibility/conduct of examination/registration of candidates/information included therein.

Documents to Carry for GAT-B and BET 2024

Candidates must bring the following documents to the examination centre on the day of the examination. Candidates who do not bring these items will be unable to take the exam.

  • Download and print a copy of the Admit Card from the NTA website.
  • One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded on the GAT-B and BET Online Application Form) must be pasted on the designated place on the attendance sheet at the Examination Centre.
  • Any of the authorized Govt. photo IDs (must be original, valid, and non-expired), such as the School Identity Card/ PAN card/ Driving Licence/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhar Card (With Photograph)/ Aadhar Enrolment No/ Ration Card (must be original, valid, and non-expired).
  • If claiming the PwD category relaxation, a PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority is required.

Note : If a candidate's name has changed as a result of an event such as marriage, the candidate must present the applicable document at the time of the exam. Legal Name Change Document / Marriage Certificate / Divorce / Decree.

GAT-B and BET 2024 Do's and Don'ts

On the day of the exam, candidates taking the GAT-B and BET 2024 exam must follow a specific protocol. The following is a list of Do's and Don'ts that candidates for the GAT-B 2024 exam should follow.

Do’s

Here is the list of Do's to be followed by the candidates for the exam:

  • Prior to visiting the Exam Center, bring your admit card and photo ID proof.
  • Reach on time and be advised to check seating arrangements if you're running late.
  • Documents Verification.
  • Obey the invigilators while doing rough work on a rough sheet.
  • Before entering the exam hall, go to the restroom beforehand if required.
  • Submit the rough sheet once done with the examination.

Note: Diabetic students will be permitted to bring eatables such as sugar tablets, fruits (such as bananas, apples, or oranges), and a clear water bottle to the examination hall. They will not, however, be permitted to carry packaged items such as chocolate, candies, or sandwiches.

Don’ts

Here is the list of Don'ts to be followed by the candidates for the exam:

  • Candidates are not permitted to bring any textual materials, calculators, Docu Pens, Slide Rules, Log Tables, or Electronic Watches with calculator functions, printed or written material, scraps of paper, or mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, pagers, or any other electronic gadget/device.
  • Candidates are not permitted to bring any electronic devices or gadgets inside the test room or hall.
  • If a candidate has any of the following items, his or her candidature will be considered unfair and the present examination will be cancelled, as well as the applicant being barred from future examinations and the material seized .
  • In the Examination Room/Hall, smoking, chewing gutka, spitting, and other similar activities are absolutely prohibited.
  • Instrument / Geometry / Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, or Any Kind of Paper/ Stationery, Eatables / Snacks, Tea / Coffee / Cold drinks / Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone / Ear Phone / Microphone / Pager / Calculator / Camera / Tape Recorder, any metallic item or electronic gadgets, etc. are NOT allowed in the examination Room /Hall.
