JoSAA 2025 Distribution of Seats
The total distribution of seats for the participating colleges of any academic program is distributed into different program sections. The Distribution of Seats for Program Sections JoSAA 2025 include Open, General EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, General EWS PwD, Open PwD, OBC NCL PwD, ST PwD and lastly SC PwD category candidates.

JoSAA 2025 Distribution of Program Seats in NIT+System
Candidates must take note of the distribution of program seats in NIT+System.
- Apart from the previously mentioned distribution of programme seats according to candidate categories, there is also a distribution of seats into Home State quota and Other States quota for academic programmes provided by NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and PEC Chandigarh. The "Home State quota" is only available to applicants whose Home State or UT matches the state or UT where the institute is located, as defined by the State Code of Eligibility. Every State and Union Territory is included in the "Other States Quota," with the exception of the Home State (or Home Union Territory).
- The following states' candidates are included in the Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering and Technology Malda's Home State Quota: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Tripura. Candidates with West Bengal as their state code of eligibility are not given seats at Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering and Technology Malda through JoSAA/CSAB. Candidates from states other than Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, and West Bengal are eligible to apply for its Other States Quota.
- Home State quotas and All India quotas are used to allocate seats for academic programmes offered by Assam University, Silchar, Birla Institute of Technology, and Puducherry Technological University, Puducherry.

Distribution of Seats for NIT Goa
For NIT Goa, there are 50% Home State seats, which will be allocated as follows:
- For candidates from Goa, 80% of the Home Seats are reserved
- Rest 20% of the Home Seats is shared by candidates belonging to Union Territories like Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep and Daman & Diu.
Distribution of Seats for NIT Srinagar
50% of the seats at NIT Srinagar (J&K) are Home State seats, and they will be allocated as follows:
- For candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, 90% of the Home Seats are reserved
- Rest 10% of the Home Seats are reserved for eligible candidates from the Union Territory of Ladakh.

As indicated below, Home State Quota will be taken into account in the NITs for states and union territories that do not have one.

After the declaration of JoSAA round 5 result 2025, applicants have to complete the online reporting from the login window. Candidates also need to upload the required documents for admission confirmation.
Candidates should have qualified 10+2 or equivalent exams with at least 45% aggregate marks. SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD category candidates should have obtained at least 40% aggregate marks to be eligible for CSAB counselling.
There are three options provided by JoSAA during the counselling and documents verification. Once candidates filled the choices and are allocated a seat in any round of JOSAA, candidates have to go for document verification . Freeze,Float and slide are the three options available in the JoSAA counselling process.
Yes, IIITs do participate in the CSAB special rounds. Indian nationals, including those living abroad, are eligible for the seat allocation through CSAB for admission into NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs, and Other-GFTIs, provided they have valid JEE Main scores.
The entire amount of fees deposited by the candidate at the Institute will be refunded (other than JoSAA seat acceptance fee) after deducting ₹1000/- as processing charges.
General Category candidates need to score a minimum of 95+ percentile score in the JEE Main exam to get admission into NITs. For the reserved category candidates, 80+ percentile score is enough to get admission into NITs.
If candidates are not allotted a seat in the first round of the JoSAA counselling, candidates are not required to reapply or submit a separate application form for the second round of the JoSAA counselling. Once candidates have registered for JoSAA, their application remains valid for all the subsequent rounds of counselling.
To be eligible for JoSAA counselling, the candidates must secure 75% in Class 12 or must be in the top 20 percentile. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the qualifying percentage is 65%. (For admission into IITs).
According to the JoSAA 2024 seat matrix, the total number of seats in IITs are 17740 while the total number of seats in the NITs and IIITs are 24229 and 8546 respectively. Candidates who are seeking admission via JoSAA 2024 counselling process should have proper knowledge about the category-wise JoSAA seat matrix.
