How to Study from NCERT Books for UPSC CSE?

There is no one specified preparation method to crack UPSC. Candidates need focus, the best sources to study, complete dedication, and hard work to succeed. While preparing for the UPSC exam, candidates can make adequate use of pictorial study and prepare simplified tables and descriptive examples to easily understand the concepts explained in NCERT books. For effective preparation, candidates can follow the simple tips:

  • Prepare Notes: After reading the topics, you can start jotting down the important points. While revising, you can focus on those points and avoid reading the whole topic again.

  • Read Subject-wise Instead of Grade-wise : The topics in the subjects are interconnected. It is suggested that candidates study them subject-wise rather than doing grade-wise completion. This will help them understand the connectivity between them.

  • Time Management: For UPSC exam preparation, it is extremely necessary to complete the subjects on time. Candidates should set a fixed time for each of the subjects, and try revising them within that duration.

One must make sure NOT to study without first understanding the syllabus of UPSC CSE. This will save time and prevent them from getting distracted or diverted to topics that are not part of the syllabus. After completing NCERT books for UPSC preparation, candidates can take up mock tests to evaluate their preparation and identify their weaknesses and strengths.
