Admission Process of Colleges Accepting 60-70 Percentile in MAT

MBA colleges that accept MAT examination scores generally do not rely on the centralized admission process as they accept the scores of a bunch of other management examinations in India as well. The colleges accepting the 60 to 70 percentile in MAT follow their admission process to grant MBA admission to students.

So, what is the admission process for B-schools that accept MAT? Generally, all institutes open their admission portal after the conduction of the MAT examination. Since the MAT examination is conducted 4 times a year, a student can choose the MAT conducted before the admission session of his/her college of preference. For example, if a college is taking admissions in June, the candidate can apply with the MAT February or MAT May scores. If a student is dissatisfied with MAT Score in February, he/ she can apply with his/her MAT May score.

Generally, the management colleges in India give equal preferences for different MAT exam sessions. However, it can also be the case where the institute gives more weightage to the recently conducted MAT. In that case, the student needs to contact the college admission authorities or check the website of the B-School for specific information.

Application Process of Colleges Accepting 60-70 Percentile in MAT

Management colleges in India open their respective admission portals after the MAT May exam has been conducted. Students are still eligible to apply with the MAT score acquired in previous MAT Sessions. The MAT participating colleges 2024 generally will take the MAT examination scores received after the respective institute's previous year's admission session. For example, if the Institute conducts admission in June, the institute will consider September December, February, and May exams for June 2024 admission, and the cycle will continue next year if schedules are unchanged for admissions.

Students are suggested to check with the institutes to know if they accept only the recent MAT score as it can depend on the B-School's institutional policies. The student must visit the admission portals of different colleges where he/she wishes to get admission to MBA or PGDM courses in India. Because the admission-based MAT score is not a centralized process, the candidate has to make separate applications in individual B-schools and pay admission fees in each of them separately.

The first step is to shortlist the institutes to which the candidate is seeking admission. To do this, candidates must have a clear knowledge of the educational practices in the college and their outreach.

The candidate according to his/her preference can evaluate a B-School according to the following criteria:

  • Fees
  • Industry Interface
  • Teaching Faculty
  • Internship and Placement Opportunities

Different individuals may have different criteria for selecting their preferred B-School. For some, fees can be the major criteria, and on another hand, while for others, placement opportunities or teaching faculty may be the top criteria for choosing a college for PGDM or MBA studies. Students can get all the information regarding an institute from their respective official websites.

Candidates can also get in touch with the alumni or senior students of the college who can help them with more in-depth details of the institute based on which, the candidate can make the decision. Once the candidate has shortlisted the college, he/she can proceed to apply to those colleges separately.

Generally while filling out a form, the candidate has to input his/her contact details such as phone number and e-mail address first to register for the MAT 2024 application form . Then, the candidate has to pay the applicable fees specified by the management college.

After the payment, the candidate will have to input his/her previous academic records like UG and Classes 10 & 12 results at the designated section for the online PGDM application. For example, if one student has mentioned his/her graduation marks, he/she will also have to upload supporting documents to prove the authenticity of the candidate’s claims.

After filling out the form and document upload, the candidate has to click on the ‘Submit’ button to register his/her application successfully.

Important Note: Some colleges levy application charges before filing the application form, while others do it after filling out the application form. Please keep this fact in mind when you visit any admission portal.

Selection Process of MBA & PGDM Colleges Accepting 60 to 70 Percentile in MAT

The MBA or PGDM selection process for MBA colleges is carried out through some rigid parameters where a lot of information is taken into consideration ranging from personality to job experience. Following are some of the parameters (except academic performance) on which the selection of a candidate to top MBA and PGDM colleges depends. The criteria are Personal Interview, Group Discussion & Work Experience.

Personal Interview for MBA & PGDM Admissions Basis MAT

Personal Interview is an important criterion for student selection in any Business School in India. Once the candidate is evaluated according to his/her academic excellence, they are called for a Personal Interview where the eligibility of a candidate to pursue a career in a managerial role is checked. A personal Interview also helps to assess the candidate’s interests, aims, and expectations for studying any MBA course.

Group Discussion for MBA & PGDM Admissions Basis MAT

GD or Group Discussion is an important tool to judge a candidate’s analytical skills & assertiveness. Depending on the institutional policies of the B-School, Group Discussion can or cannot be held, if it is held, it can be before or after PI Session. The whole thing depends on the policy of the institute. In a GD, 6 people are made to sit together and discuss opinions on a given topic through a logical explanation. This helps the institute to filter the best students with the best analytical skills.

Work Experience for MBA & PGDM Admissions Basis MAT

Work experience is also taken into consideration by some MBA institutes but it is not a rigid criterion to cut a student’s admission. Having said that, it is true that students with work experience are at an advantage compared to students who do not have work experience.
