NEET Passing Marks 2024 for Seat Reservation Under 15% AIQ and 85% State Quota

Candidates should be aware that a portion of the total seats in government MBBS/BDS colleges is reserved for students under both the All India Quota (AIQ) and the state quota. Understanding the logic behind NEET passing marks is crucial for securing admission through these reservation categories. Mentioned below are the important details regarding the NEET Passing Marks for Seat Reservation Under 15% AIQ and 85% State Quota for candidates’ reference.

NEET Passing Marks 2024 for Seat Reservation Under 15% AIQ

Out of the total seats, 15% are reserved for students under the All India Quota. These seats can only be filled by students who meet the passing marks for NEET 2024 scores/cutoff for government colleges. To secure a seat under this quota, candidates need to achieve the minimum NEET qualifying marks 2024 determined by the respective authorities.

NEET Passing Marks 2024 for Seat Reservation Under 85% State Quota

Under this policy, 85% of the total government medical seats are reserved for students from the respective states. The admission process for these seats is carried out by the state authorities for candidates satisfying the passing marks for NEET. Therefore, candidates aspiring to secure admission under the state quota must meet the NEET 2024 passing marks specified by the state government.

Understanding the expected NEET passing marks for both the 15% AIQ and 85% state quota categories is essential for candidates planning their admission strategies.

Factors Affecting NEET Passing Marks 2024

The NEET qualifying marks 2024 are expected to be different this year in comparison to last year's trends. Thus, mentioned below are the factors affecting NEET passing marks 2024:

  • Difficulty Level : NEET 2024 is one of India's toughest medical entrance exams. If the difficulty level of NEET is high, the passing marks will be lower and vice versa.
  • Total Number of Students : The NEET qualifying cutoff marks (passing marks) are directly related to the number of students registered as well as those who appeared on the exam day. If the number of students who appeared is high, then the cutoff marks will also be high.
  • Reservation Criteria : Aspirants from socially and educationally backward backgrounds are from the reserved category and are given relaxation in NEET passing marks as per the NEET 2024 Reservation Policy .
  • Performance of Test-Takers : The overall performance of the test takers also determines the NEET passing marks or NEET 2024 qualifying marks. If the number of students scoring a high score in NEET 2024 is high, then the NEET passing marks for 2024 will be higher.
  • Seat Matrix : The total number of seats available for Medical and Dental courses also impacts the NEET qualifying marks 2024. If the seat availability is higher, the NEET qualifying/passing marks will be lower.

Misconception About NEET Qualifying Marks

The NEET UG 2024 Counselling is conducted based on the NEET 2024 qualifying marks to examine candidates’ eligibility to take part in the counselling process. The NEET Passing Marks 2024 determines whether the NEET score secured by the candidate is at par with the NTA specified passing marks for NEET. One of the most common misconceptions that candidates usually have regarding the NEET Passing Marks 2024 is that they are required to secure only 50% of the total NEET marks to qualify the exam and admission process. However, the NEET Passing Marks 2024 or the NEET qualifying marks 2024 is not simply 50% of the total NEET score; it is rather calculated very differently.

According to the misconception, passing marks for NEET is 720/2 = 360. Whereas in reality, this portrays the percentile rather than the percentage of marks scored, and therefore, both are extremely different in their terms. For instance, if the NEET qualifying marks 2024 is set at the 50th percentile, it means that a candidate must surpass at least 50% of the total number of NEET applicants, which is untrue. Moreover, the specific NEET qualifying marks 2024 is different from the previous year's as the passing marks for NEET vary from year to year. However, candidates must note they are required to target at achieving higher than the specified NEET Passing Marks 2024 scores to secure admission to renowned medical colleges.
