NIFT Entrance Exam 2024: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance exam for the 2024 session finished in May, with the final results being announced on March 20, 2024, for UG candidates and on May 8, 2024, for PG candidates. Although NIFT has yet to officially state the difficulty level, past trends and candidate feedback suggest the exam was moderately difficult.

Well-prepared students could attempt the paper with ease. Many students found the English comprehension section easy, while the Maths section posed more of a challenge. The Creative Ability Test (CAT) was also considered easy by most. This year, there has been an increase in the total number of available seats for NIFT 2024 admissions compared to last year. Last year, there were 5199 seats available, while this year, the number has risen to 5289 seats. The NIFT conducts an annual design entrance exam known as the NIFT entrance exam and it consists of two parts:

The final NIFT 2024 score for other programs is determined by combining the scores from the written exams and the situation test/personal interview.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2024 Exam Analysis

Feedback from students who took the NIFT entrance exam in 2024 suggests that the GAT was moderately challenging, while the CAT was relatively easier. Overall, the difficulty level of the NIFT 2024 exam ranged from easy to moderate. However, many students found the GK section particularly demanding compared to other parts of the exam. The Quantitative Ability section was generally considered moderate, while the Analytical Ability and English sections were seen as more manageable.

Notably, questions based on the 12th class syllabus carried significant weight in the exam. Additionally, the NIFT 2024 question paper contained some tricky questions. In the Mathematics section, topics such as Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Simple Interest, and Compound Interest were covered. The English section was reported to be straightforward.

Regarding GK, one question focused on the G-summit, while History received considerable emphasis in the NIFT GK section. Moreover, questions related to award winners were also included, adding to the diversity of topics covered in the exam.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2024 Exam Pattern

The NIFT 2024 exam was held in two stages. Candidates first took a written exam and those who were shortlisted moved on to a Situation Test or Personal Interview. The written exam included the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and the General Ability Test (GAT). The GAT was compulsory for all courses, but only candidates applying for B.Des and M.Des needed to take the CAT.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2024 Application Form

The NIFT 2024 application form was made available online on December 5, 2023. Candidates were required to fill in personal, educational, and contact details. Additionally, they had to upload scanned documents, including a passport-size photograph and signature, following prescribed size and format guidelines. The deadline for submitting the application form was January 3, 2024. In case of any errors, candidates could make corrections during the NIFT Correction period from January 10th to 12th, 2024.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for admission to NIFT 2024, candidates were required to check the NIFT 2024 eligibility criteria :

For B.Des Courses

  • Age Limit: Candidates' maximum age had to be 24 years as of August 1, 2024. However, for SC/ST/PWD categories, the upper age limit was relaxed up to 5 years.
  • Qualification: Applicants had to pass the 12th class or equivalent from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Education. Alternatively, they could pass in 12th recognized by the National Open School with a minimum of 5 subjects.
  • Appearing: Candidates who were appearing in the qualifying exam in 2024 were also eligible to apply.

For B.F.Tech Courses

  • Qualification: Candidates were required to pass intermediate or equivalent from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary examination.
  • Subject: In the qualifying exam, candidates had to pass with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  • Age Criteria: The maximum age for applicants was 24 years, with a relaxation of 5 years for reserved category candidates.

For M.Des/M.FTech/MFM Courses

  • Qualification: Applicants need to have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any university/institute recognized by law in India.
  • Age Limit: There was no age limit for the candidates.
  • Appearing: Candidates who were appearing in the final year of 2024 were also eligible to apply.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2024 Syllabus

The NIFT exam covers a range of topics that candidates must be prepared for. The exam comprises two parts: CAT and GAT. Here's a breakdown of the syllabus topics as per this year’s NIFT 2024 exam:
