There has been an expositional increase in the number of candidates opting for animation and gaming courses in India. India is the second-largest internet consumer and contributes largely to the gaming sector.

Rise of Animation & Gaming Courses in India

Around 50 percent of India's population is below the age of 25 and 60 percent of the nation's gamers are under 25 years of age. With the growth in the gaming and animation sector and the increase in the number of employment opportunities, there has been a rise in the number of candidates opting for UG and PG courses in the field of animation and gaming. Some of the top colleges like Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute , Frameboxx Animation & Visual Effects Private Limited , Maeer's MIT Institute of Design , Karnavati University and ROOTS Collegium among others that offer several Animation and Gaming courses.

As per KPMG's media and entertainment report, the gaming user base surpassed 365 million in March and India has over 560 million internet users. It is the second-largest internet consumer. One of the key factors for the Rise in Animation and Gaming Courses in India is that from only 25 online companies in 2010 the number has gone up to 275.

Key Factors for Rise of Animation & Gaming Courses in India

Some of the major factors that play a key role in the Rise of Animation and Gaming courses in India are as follows:

  • Mobile gaming takes the largest chunk of the gaming market due to the access and availability of smartphones. There has been a 15 percent growth over the past five years. Gaming is not limited to desktops and PCs anymore.

  • Many new innovative and interactive games are available in the market not just for entertainment but for educational purposes. Therefore, the number of students opting for gaming courses has also increased.

  • The high-speed 4G internet available at the world's lowest data tariffs has also contributed to the same.

  • COVID-19 witnessed a shift in media and entertainment consumption trends in typical segments such as film, TV, and print.

  • There has been a rapid change in the consumption of digital media and gaming.

  • One of the other factors that have contributed to the growth in Animation and Gaming courses in India is the growth in the adoption of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.

  • The surge in gaming has also come from virtual entertainment with friends, family, and peer groups, coupled with the rise in influencers encouraging Indians to play more games. With digital consumption becoming mainstream in India the demand for such content has also increased.

  • An increase in the gaming platform options, such as mobile, console, and PC is attracting gamers to play a different genres of games such as strategy, casual, action, sports, and entertainment among others.

  • The current scenario has made India the centre of outsourcing networks for outsourcing work such as game development, and game support services. This has led to the rise in gaming and animation courses.

Employment opportunities have also increased for quality animators and gamers. With the rapid growth in the entertainment, multimedia, and animation sector there has been a huge demand for game developers , multimedia developers, character designers, keyframe animators , 3D modellers.

So, you completed your 12th with PCB in 2024 from the UAE and appeared for NEET in May 2025. Since you're interested in doing a BSc in Radiology from a government college. Coming to your preference for Western or Central line (assuming you’re referring to Mumbai), there are a few government and semi-government colleges that offer BSc in Radiology or Imaging Technology.
