UCEED 2024

UCEED 2024: The Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED), held annually by IIT Bombay, serves as a gateway for admissions into B.Des programs at prestigious IITs such as IIT Bombay , IIT Delhi , IIT Guwahati , IIT Hyderabad , IIT Roorkee , and IIITDM Jabalpur . In addition to the IITs, UCEED scores are recognized by top private design schools such as BITS Pilani, VIT Vellore, and FDDI. This year's exam took place on January 21, 2024, from 9 am to 12 noon. According to student feedback, the UCEED 2024 exam ranged from easy to moderate in difficulty, though some students felt it was a bit lengthy. Unlike UCEED 2023, Part A (aptitude) was extended to 2 hours, while Part B (drawing) remained 1 hour. Additionally, a new question was added to Part B, making it two drawing questions instead of one, which tested both design thinking and sketching skills.

This guide on the UCEED 2024 exam provides important insights to help students evaluate their performance and prepare for next year's exam.

FAQs

What is the basis of the UCEED 2024 seat allotment?

The allocation of UCEED 2024 seats was determined based on the candidate's UCEED merit rank and their chosen preferences during the choice-filling process. IIT Bombay conducted the registration for counselling from March 14 to 31, 2024. Candidates who obtained a merit rank in UCEED 2024 were required to select campuses in their order of priority. Seat allocation was done based on the institute and category. Candidates who were allocated seats had to verify their documents and pay the admission fees.

What factors are considered for preparing for the UCEED 2024 cutoff?

Admission officials considered several factors to determine the cutoff for the exam. These included the number of applicants, the seat intake for the program at the applied institute, the merit rank of applicants in UCEED 2024, the category under which admission was sought, and trends from previous years' cutoffs. Since these factors could vary, any changes in them would also affect the cutoff.

What details are included in the UCEED 2024 scorecard?

The UCEED 2024 scorecard was released on March 11, 2024. It provided Part A scores for all candidates, but only those who qualified in Part A received their Part B scores, total scores, and merit ranks. This scorecard will be valid for one year from its release date, enabling candidates to apply for B.Des programs at both participating and result-sharing institutes. The deadline to download the scorecard was June 12, 2024.

How many seats were offered for B.Des by the participating institutes of UCEED 2024?

The UCEED 2024 exam saw six institutes participating, including the newly added IIT Roorkee. These institutes collectively offered 225 seats for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program, an increase from the 205 seats available in the previous year. Admission to the B.Des program was determined by UCEED 2024 merit. Among these institutes, IIT Jabalpur had the highest number of seats, with 66 available. IIT Bombay, known for its high demand, offered 37 seats. The seat distribution was categorized into various groups, including Open, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and PwD.

What is the counselling registration fee for UCEED 2024?

The registration fee for UCEED counselling 2024 was INR 4,000, payable online via net banking, credit cards, or debit cards. Candidates who were allotted a seat during the counselling had to pay an additional seat-acceptance fee, separate from the counselling fee. Failure to pay this fee resulted in the cancellation of the seat, which was then offered to the next candidate in the merit order. The seat allotment process for UCEED 2024 occurred in three rounds.
