Eligibility Criteria for UP B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission 2023

Lateral entry in UP B.Tech for Engineering Diploma holders is open only in the institutions affiliated with AKTU, Lucknow. The candidates are required to satisfy the below eligibility rules to be eligible for the entrance exam -

UP Domicile Rule

Candidates who have passed (with/without grace) three years Engineering Diploma from an Institution located in Uttar Pradesh.

Or

Whose parents (Father or Mother) are domicile of Uttar Pradesh and he/she has passed three years Engineering Diploma recognized by the Board of Technical Education, U.P., in any branch of Engineering (except Agriculture Engg., Pharmacy, and Arc) are eligible to take direct 2nd Year Admission in B.Tech Course.

Academic Marks

Candidates who have completed three years of Engineering diploma from a university located in UP should have scored a minimum of 45 % of marks (40% for SC/ST)

Or

Candidates who have completed three years Engineering Diploma recognized by the Board of Technical Education, U.P (except Agriculture Engg., Pharmacy, and Arc) should have scored a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) will be considered eligible for the UP B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission 2023.

Entrance Exam Marks

The second year of B.Tech. (Lateral Entry) will be determined by the score/percentile/rank received by a candidate in UPCET Examination 2023.

Note-

Candidates who have taken a qualifying examination outside of Uttar Pradesh State and whose parents are not Uttar Pradesh State residents are ineligible for direct admission to the second year of B.Tech/ B.Pharm.

• Candidates who have passed the NTA-conducted UPCET-2023 test can register online for direct admission (lateral entry) to the second year of UP B.Tech programs in Counselling
• A candidate who wants to take direct admission in the UP B.Tech 2nd year course should register by filling out the application form before the deadline.

• Direct admission to the Second year shall not be made in B.Arch.//BFA/BHMCT/BFADB. Des/B. VOC/ MBA Courses
• Such seats are limited to a maximum of 10% of the previous year's sanctioned admission in institutions/colleges for various first-year programs
• B.Tech candidates from the B.Sc. stream would be considered only after candidates from the Diploma stream have filled the seats in this category

The UP B. Tech Lateral Entry Counseling Process 2023 will be done online only. Candidates are advised to visit the UPCET Official Website to get the counselling registration dates. Follow the steps given below to complete the registration for the UP B.Tech Lateral Entry Counseling Process 2023.

Step 1: Visit the UPCET official website.
