The university is spread across 8.372 hectares and is the only affiliating university in Uttarakhand for technical education. UTU has 81 affiliated private colleges and 12 government colleges. Various undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses are taught here with approximately 20,000 students in various courses. This public college is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

A variety of courses are offered by UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University) which helps the students to choose their preferred programme. The scholarships given to students of UTU are good and help students from low-income families. However, students have stated that the curriculum is backdated and must be updated according to industry trends. The university management should update the B.Tech course curriculum mainly for electrical engineering, diploma in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering disciplines as per the reviews of students. It is necessary to incorporate the latest curriculum so as to impart quality education to students which increases their chances of getting better jobs.

UTU has different types of infrastructural facilities for students of the university. This has not only helped in carrying out fundamental research but has also helped the faculty. The university has two playgrounds that are accessible to the students. Separate hostels are available for girls and boys where 54 male students and 45 female students can be accommodated. Auditorium

The university has a well-equipped auditorium with a video wall and complete audio-video set-up for a seating capacity of 240 people on its premises.

Conference Hall

UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University) has two meeting rooms namely Pandit Narain Dutt Tiwari Conference Hall with a seating capacity of 50 persons and a Board Room with a seating capacity of 15 persons facility for online meetings.

Guest House

The university has a small Guest House with 3 rooms on its campus. The guests invited by the university for academic, administrative and other associated works, the new appointees who come to join duty in the university, and on-duty faculty members/ Directors/ Officers/ Staff can stay in the guest house without paying any room charges.

Sports Ground

UTU campus has abundant sports facilities for athletics and some more facilities are being put in place. Students have access to the grounds at all times.

Bank & ATM

UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University) has a branch of Bank of Baroda on its old premises in Government Girls Polytechnic across the road opposite the university campus. An ATM of the Bank of Baroda is installed on the campus of the UTU.

Medical Facility

Students of UTU get medical assistance from the university. In the case of an emergency, the ambulance service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For primary treatments of its ailing students, the university has tied up with leading hospitals.

The university provides a bus service to drop off and pick up students. The spacious bus can carry up to 50 students at a time and travel from the hostel to the university.

According to the students, the hostel facilities of the university are good and the fee is less compared to other colleges. If the number of students accommodated in the UTU hostel increases, then more students can be admitted to UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University). Bigger infrastructure is necessary to expand the course curriculum, number of courses offered, student intake, etc.

The university has a satisfactory placement record of around 70 to 80%, but more focus should be given to internship opportunities. Students need to get more internship experience during their curriculum so that they can get placed in top companies with some practical knowledge. Not much is known about the demography and the diversity of UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University). More number of students should be admitted to the university who are outside of Uttarakhand. The university does not have a diverse community of students. Limited hostel accommodation is also a reason why the university is unable to expand its total student intake.

Students might not want to complete their PhD degree at UTU as the university has been exposed for being involved in scams related to its PhD courses.

UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University) is located at Post Office Chandanwadi, Prem Nagar, NH-72 Sudhowala, Dehradun in Uttarakhand. As Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand state, it is well-connected through rail, road and air transport. Dehradun Railway Station is around 10.8 km away from the Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun. Bhatowali Bus Stand is around 7.9 km away from the university campus and the Dehradun Airport is around 38 km away. Students need to hire a taxi to reach the university.

The university campus is a little far from the main city and to reach the airport, students need to hire a taxi. UTU (Uttarakhand Technical University) provides bus service but only to take students from the university to the hostels. The location of the university might restrict students from getting urban amenities.
