West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme: WBSCC full form is West Bengal Student Credit Card, a scheme introduced by the Government of West Bengal to provide financial assistance to students pursuing Secondary/ Higher Secondary/ Madrasah/ Undergraduate/ Postgraduate education. The scheme is specifically designed for those students whose families are permanent residents or have been residing in the state of West Bengal for the last 10 years. What Is the WBSCC Scheme?

The WBSCC or West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme is an initiative by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal. The primary objective of the scheme is to offer financial aid to the students so they can complete or pursue higher education without worrying about the expenses. Under the WBSCC scheme, you can get a maximum loan amount of INR 10,00,000 at 4% interest rate from the State Cooperative Banks and Private or Public Sector Banks. The West Bengal credit card scheme covers a wide range of expenses, including hostel fees, tuition fees, cost of books and computers, project work, and others. The WBSCC loan amount can be utilized to finance degree courses, like MA, M.Sc., M.Com., MBA, BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, MBBS, LLB, PGDM, technical courses, like ITI, as well as Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12 education.

Student Credit Card West Bengal Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for a loan under the West Bengal Student Credit Card scheme, you must fulfil the following eligibility requirements:
  • You must be permanent resident of the state of West Bengal or at least be living there for the last 10 years

  • You must be aged 40 years or below at the time of loan application

  • You must be pursuing higher education in schools, madrasahs, colleges, universities, and other academic institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIMs, NLUs, IIESTs etc. in India or overseas.

  • You must be enrolled in coaching institutes to appear in Engineering, Medical, Law, IPS, IAS, WBCS, and other competitive examinations.

West Bengal Student Credit Card Application Process

To apply for the Student Credit Card West Bengal Government Scheme, you must follow the steps mentioned below:
  1. Visit the West Bengal Student Credit Card (WBSCC) website, at wbscc.wb.gov.in.

  2. Click on the ‘Student Registration’ tab on the top right corner of the homepage.

  3. Select if you are applying for ‘Institutions in India’ or ‘Institutions Outside India’

  4. Next, register yourself by providing basic details, such as Name, DOB, Gender, and Aadhaar Card No.

  5. Enter details related to your present course of study, such as Programme Name and Type, Institution Name etc.

  6. Provide contact details, such as mobile number and email ID. Make sure type out the full email ID while reconfirming.

  7. Finally, enter a strong password as per preference.

  8. Once all the details are provided, click on the ‘Register’ button.

  9. After successful registration, a unique ID will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number. You must save the ID provided to you as it will serve as your User ID for all communications in the future.

  10. Now, you must go to the ‘Student Login’ tab on the homepage to complete the WBSCC application process. View the application dashboard and click on ‘Apply Loan’.

  11. Provide the co-borrower’s details, such as address, PAN, and occupation in the next section.

  12. Enter the course name and year of completion, income and permanent address details.

  13. Fill in yours and the co-borrower’s bank details, including the name of the bank, branch name, account number, IFSC code etc.

  14. After providing all the necessary details, click on ‘Save & Continue’.

  15. Next, upload all the required documents in the prescribed size and format and click on Save & Continue’.

  16. Review your WBSCC application form, details, photograph, documents etc. to ensure absolute accuracy.

  17. Finally, click on ‘Submit Application’ to complete final submission of your WBSCC loan application form.

Documents Required for Student Credit Card West Bengal Scheme

Listed below are the documents that need to be submitted to avail of the West Bengal Student Credit Card loan:
  • A coloured photograph of the student in .jpeg/ .jpg format and size 20-50 KB

  • A coloured photograph of the co-borrower in .jpeg/ .jpg format and size 20-50 KB

  • Signature of the student in .jpeg/ .jpg format and size 10-50 KB

  • Signature of the co-borrower in .jpeg/ .jpg format and size 10-50 KB

  • Aadhaar Card of the student in .pdf format and size 50-400 KB

  • Class 10th Board Registration Certificate of the student in .pdf format and size 50-400 KB (if Aadhaar Card is not issued).

  • Address proof of the guardian in .pdf format and size 50-400 KB

  • Admission receipt for the course under pursue in .pdf format and size 50-400 KB

  • PAN Card/ Undertaking Form of the student in .pdf format and size 50-400 KB

  • PAN Card/ Undertaking Form of the guardian in .pdf format and size 50-400 KB

  • Relevant page of the brochure/ document containing tuition fee or course fee in .pdf format and size 50-400 KB
