Assam Agricultural University UG Admission 2025

There are multiple programs that are taught at undergraduate level in AAU such as horticulture, agriculture, sericulture, community science, veterinary science, and other related disciplines. The different popular courses offered at undergraduate level are BSc Hons. Agriculture, BSc Animal Husbandry and Dairying, BSc Biotechnology, BSc Horticulture, Bsc Entomology, BSc Agronomy, BSc Basic Science, BSc Fruit Science, etc. The admission to all these courses will take place through Common  Entrance Test conducted by Assam Agricultural University.

Assam Agricultural University UG Course Fee and Eligibility Criteria 2025

The UG admissions for AAU will be based on the Common Entrance Test for Undergraduate Programmes. The same has been given in detail below:

Common Entrance Test for Undergraduate Programmes 2025 (CET UG AAU 2025)

The selection of candidates for admission into all UG courses shall be based on their performance in Common Entrance Test 2025 to be conducted centrally by AAU.

Students who have passed Class 12th with Science stream, having the certificate of Permanent Residence in Assam and NER (for HFC seats) only should apply for the test.

The students appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to sit in the Common Entrance test 2025, but they have to pass the 10+2 exam before the date of admission.

The wards of defence/paramilitary personnel posted in the State of Assam for at least one year are also eligible to apply for the Common Entrance Test, 2025.

Important Note:

  • Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination in one sitting or in betterment examination in minimum four subjects as per Board's criteria.
  • Candidates passing in supplementary or compartment or improvement examinations in a single subject are not eligible.
  • To become eligible for admission into various degree programmes of the University, a candidate must have passed in all the subjects, separately for theory and practical in the qualifying examination.
  • Students passed out from a Board accredited by AIU & NIOS with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture (PCAg) are eligible to apply.
  • The sponsored candidates from foreign countries under Bilateral/ Multilateral Agreement and NRI/NRI sponsored candidates shall however be exempted from appearing in the Common Entrance Test 2025 provided that they meet the minimum eligibility requirements prescribed by the University.
  • The Entrance Test is also waived off for the candidates nominated by NEC/VCI/ICAR.

Age Criteria

Any candidate applying for undergraduate courses shall be at least 16 years old as of September 01, 2025 and must have been born before September 01, 2008 for all the programmes other than BVSc and AH.

  • Also the candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for Gen/OBC/UPS and 40% for SC/ST/DAC in the qualifying examination.

B.V.Sc. & A.H.

  • Admission into the B.V. Sc. & A. H. programmes of the University will be governed by the Veterinary Council of India - The Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education (Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry Degree course) Regulations, 2016.
  • Moreover, the candidates must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria laid down by the University.
  • Candidates are advised to refer to the VCI Regulations, (MSVE 2016): Part III (6) and Part III (7).

BSc (Hons) Community Science/Food Nutrition & Dietetics

  • A candidate must have passed Higher Secondary/ 10+2/ Intermediate examination with

Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) or

Physics, Chemistry & Agriculture (PCAg) or

Physics, Chemistry & Home Science (PCHSc)

as subjects from a recognized University or Board including that of NIOS.

  • Also the candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50%  marks for Gen/OBC/UPS and 40% for SC/ST/DAC in the qualifying examination.

VLEW, VFA, F.D. & S.D.

In cases where candidates are working as VLEW/VFA/FD/SD in Assam, the minimum qualification for admission for them shall be as following:

  • A candidate must have passed at least Higher Secondary/10+2 or equivalent examinations in the science group with Physics, Chemistry & Biology (or Botany and Zoology in place of Biology), with 45% marks and must have passed in all subjects in one sitting.
  • Maximum age should not exceed 35 years on August 01, 2025.
  • They should possess at least 3 years practical field experience and,
  • Must also be sponsored by the Director of Agriculture, Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Director of Fisheries, Director of Sericulture, Government of Assam, respectively, for B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) Sericulture courses .

Assam Agricultural University PG Admission 2025

The different courses at Master’s level include MSc Agriculture, MSc Plant Pathology, MSc Home Science, MSc Food Technology, MSc Agricultural Biotechnology, MSc Nematology, MBA, MFSC programmes, etc. The students can apply to any of these programmes through the official website of the Assam Agricultural University. Similar to undergraduate programmes, the students taking admission to postgraduate courses also need to appear for the Common Entrance Test conducted by AAU.

  • A candidate must have passed the B.Sc. (Agri) /B.Sc. (Hort.) / B.Sc. (Seri.) /B.Sc (Agri. Biotech) / B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture / Horticulture / B.Sc. (H.Sc.) / B.Sc. (Hons) Community Science / B.F.Sc./B.Tech(Fishery Science) of 4 years duration/B.V.Sc & A.H. of 5 or 5 and half years duration, degree examination of this University or any other University recognized by this University.
  • Minimum CGPA/Marks :2.60/4.00 scale or 3.25/5.00 scale or 6.60/10.00 scale for Gen/OBC/UPS. 2.20/4.00 or 2.75/5.00 or 5.60/10.00 for SC/ST/DAC (applicable only for domicile of Assam).

In cases where marks are given instead of CGPA,  at least 60% marks for General/OBC/UPS  and 50% marks for SC/ST/DAC.

M.Tech (Food Tech) in Processing Technology.

  • B.E./B. Tech. in Food Science/Food Science and Technology/Food Technology and Management/Food Technology/Food Process Engineering/ Food Engineering/ Dairy Engineering/ Dairy Technology/ Agricultural Engineering/ Agricultural & Food Engineering/ Agricultural Process Engineering/Dairy and Food Engineering /Chemical Engineering.

OR

  • A minimum of a 4 year degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Home Science/Fisheries Science/ B.V.Sc/ Biotechnology/ Food Science/ Food & Nutrition and allied disciplines.

OR

  • M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Zoology, Botany, Life Sciences, Food Sciences, Food Technology and allied disciplines (with three-year Bachelor degree).

M.Sc.(Agri) Degree in Sericulture

  • Must have passed B.Sc. with Zoology, Chemistry and Botany, preferably with honours in Zoology with at least 45% marks and should have at least 3 years of service experience and must be sponsored by the Govt. of Assam or the Central Silk Board.
  • For candidates applying directly after completing a UG degree, they must have a B.Sc. (Seri)/B.Sc. (Hons.) Sericulture from this University or any other University recognized by this University.
  • Minimum CGPA/Marks : 2.60/4.00 or 3.25/5.00 or 6.60/10.00 scale for Gen/OBC/UPS and 5.60/10.00 or 2.75/5.00 or 2.20/4.00 for SC/ST/DAC.

In cases where marks are given instead of CGPA, at least 60% marks for GEN/OBC/UPS and 50% marks for SC/ST/DAC.

  • Candidates with B.Sc. (Agri)/ B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, with equivalent CGPA are also eligible to apply. However, preference will be given to B.Sc.(Seri)/B.Sc. (Hons.) Sericulture students.

MBA (Agri-Business)

  • Must have passed the B.Sc. (Agri), B.E.(Agril. Engineering), B.Sc. (Dairy Science), B.Sc.(Home Science), B.F.Sc. or B.Sc. (Forestry), B.Sc. (Hons) Agri/Hort/H.Sc./Forestry/B.Tech (Ag. Engg.) of four year duration or BVSC & AH degree examination of 5 or 5 and a half year duration of this University or any other University recognized by this University.
  • Minimum CGPA/Marks: 2.60 in 4.00 or 3.25/5.00 or 6.60/10.00 for Gen/OBC/UPS and 2.20/4.00 or 2.75/5.00 or 5.60/10.00 for SC/ST/DAC.

In cases where marks are given instead of CGPA,at least 60% marks for GEN/OBC/UPS and 50% marks for SC/ST/DAC.

  • This is relaxable to candidates having 5 years of service experience and deputed by Govt. of Assam . For them, the requirement is a CGPA of 2.30 on 4.00 scale or 5.70 on 10.00 scale or 45% marks.

Assam Agricultural University Ph.D. Admission 2025

Candidates for admission are chosen based on the NTA score (2025-25) obtained by the candidates in ICAR's AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.). A department wise merit list based on the NTA score shall be prepared for all the Faculties of the University. Candidates interested to pursue Ph.D. programme in Tea Husbandry & Technology shall have to clear an Entrance Test to be conducted by the concerned Department on a date to be notified separately. The students are to accordingly choose their option in the online application form.

  • Minimum CGPA/ Marks:  2.60 in 4.00 scale or 6.50 in 10.00 scale or 60.00% marks.
  • Relaxable for deputed candidates having 5 years of service experience . ( CGPA of 2.47 in 4.00 scale or 6.22 in10.00 scale or 56.89%  marks)

Veterinary Science

  • Must have passed M.V.Sc. examination from  this University or any other University recognized by this University with a basic degree in Veterinary Science
  • Minimum CGPA/ Marks: 2.60 in 4.00 scale or 6.50 in 10.00 scale or 60.00% marks.

Note: The candidates serving as JRFS/SRFs/RAs at AAU are eligible to apply for admission into the PG Programmes subject to fulfillment of other eligibility criteria.
