A merit list will be prepared by the DASA authorities on the basis of SAT Subject Test scores obtained by the applicants. The DASA seat allotment process is divided into the following steps:
Step 1: Receiving SAT Subject Test Scores
In this step, the NITK Surathkal authorities will take into account all the SAT Subject Test Scores received via the College Board, the USA for the preparation of merit list. In addition to the SAT Subject Test Scores, the eligibility factor will also be taken into consideration by the NITKS officials and thereafter will prepare the merit list.
Step 2: Preparation of Merit List on the basis of SAT Subject Test Scores
The SAT Subject Test Scores of all the eligible applicants will be considered for the merit list preparation. The scores of only those applicants will be considered who will submit the same before the last date. In the case of two or more applicants having the same SAT Subject Test scores, the authorities will resort to a tie-breaking policy.

Those on the top of the merit list will be allocated seats in their favoured institutions in their desired courses. If the applicants do not get a seat in their first preferred institute or course, their 2nd preference will come to the front and the process will go on. If the opposite happens, then the seat allocated to them in the first round stays put.
Decline: If the candidates are not satisfied with the seats allocated to them and want to go for better options in the IVth round, this option is for them.
