What is a special round in JoSAA

Special Vacant Seats Filling Round, also known as the special round is conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board CSAB to fill the vacant seats at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs (Except IITs) after completion of all the JoSAA Rounds. The motive of the special round is to fill the remaining vacant seats across the participating institutes.

 

How is CSAB different from JoSAA?

CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) and JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) are both involved in the seat allocation process for engineering admissions in India, but there are some differences between the two. The basic difference is that first, JoSAA completes its JEE Main Counselling process for admissions across IITs, NITs, and other participating colleges. Then, CSAB conducts two rounds to fill up the vacant seats (if any) of NITs, IIITs, and other colleges (this does not include IITs).

 

How is the JEE Main Seat Allotment procedure conducted?

In the JEE Main seat allotment process, the candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of their merit, filled choices and availability of seats. But, before the actual seat allotment, mock allotment of seats will be conducted.

 

Is the JoSAA Counselling compulsory?

JoSAA Counselling is mandatory for B.Tech/ B.Arch admission across IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and IIEST Shibpur. All the participating institutes which include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 33 GFTIs, offer admission to eligible candidates only through Joint Seat Allocation Authority or JoSAA Counselling.
