What is the EWS Quota in NEET 2025?

EWS Quota in NEET 2025 is introduced by the Government of India in the academic year 2021 - 22. As per the regulation of the government, a total of 10% of All India Quota seats will be available under the NTA NEET EWS Quota Rules. The full form of EWS is the Economically Weaker Section. Candidates having the NEET 2025 EWS Certificate can apply for medical seats under this quota. This reservation was implemented to provide an opportunity for students from economically weaker backgrounds to pursue their dreams of becoming doctors or dentists.

The NEET 2025 EWS Quota Eligibility is determined by the family's gross annual income, which should not exceed INR 8 LPA (lakhs per annum). Candidates falling under the GEN-EWS category and meeting the income criteria are eligible to apply for the reserved seats. In the case where the 10% EWS Quota NEET UG 2025 seats are filled up, the rest of the seats will be available for general category students. The introduction of the EWS quota in NEET has opened up new opportunities for students from economically weaker sections of society.

How EWS Quota in NEET 2025 Works?

The EWS (Economically Weaker Section) quota was introduced by the Indian government to provide a reservation for individuals from economically weaker backgrounds in higher education. The eligibility criteria of the EWS Quota in NEET 2025 is designed by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, the national-level medical entrance exam for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses in India, to offer equal representation and opportunities to students from all social sectors. To be eligible for the EWS criteria for NEET, candidates must meet the following criteria.
