Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has rated Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) as the Best Agricultural University in India. The university offers an excellent programme for higher education in the Agricultural stream and allied subjects. The application process for TNAU B.Sc/ B.Tech agriculture is ongoing and the final date to apply for the same is now August 20, 2022.
The establishment of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University dates back to 1876. Over the decades, the university has burgeoned and expanded in terms of both infrastructure and degree programmes offered. Today, the university has 27 affiliated colleges that offer courses like B.Sc. Honors Agriculture and B.Sc. Honours Horticulture course. Currently, the university offers 10 undergraduate courses in the Agricultural stream. Only the academic stream candidates are offered seats in the agricultural courses at the institute.
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is responsible to conduct the counselling process for admission to undergraduate courses in the affiliated agricultural colleges of Tamil Nadu. Sixty-five per cent of seats in the affiliated colleges are filled through General Counseling by TNAU and 35% of seats are reserved under the management quota. Candidates willing to apply for agricultural courses must attend the TNAU online counselling process.
Candidates must meet the general as well as the academic qualifications to be considered for admission. Candidates must confirm specific eligibility criteria before applying for an undergraduate agriculture course.

Tamil Nadu BSc/ B Tech Agriculture Application Form 2022
Following are the step-by-step procedure to fill in the application form for admission in undergraduate courses at the Tamil Nadu Agriculture Institutes:
Step 1: Register
Visit the official website of TNAU https://tnauonline.in/ and Click ‘Undergraduate’ link and then `New Registration’ to register. User ID and password will be created which will be sent on the registered mobile number and e-mail ID of the candidate.
Step 2: Fill Application Form
The applicant must note the User ID and Password Sent and then Click “Proceed to Application” button to complete the application process. Candidates must fill in the details required in the application form.
They can also enter the preferred degree and college through the application portal.
Step 3: Pay the Application Fees
After completing the application form, the applicant must pay the application fees. Application fees for the Undergraduate Agriculture courses is INR 600/-. For SC/ ST and SCA, the application fee is INR 300/-.
Step 4: Print Joint Declaration Form and Appendices/ Checklist
The candidate must log in to the application portal and download and take the printout of the Joint Declaration Form and Appendices / Checklist. This is the final step to confirm the completeness and submission of the application.
The candidate must carry with them the signed copy of d Joint Declaration Form and other required documents at the time of document verification.
Step 5: Edit the Application
TNAU allows candidates to edit the application on defined dates. In case, any information is missing, the candidate can add it at the time of editing.
Step 6: Document submission (for certain categories)
Differently, Abled/ Eminent Sports Person Quota/ Ex-Servicemen / Descendants of Freedom Fighter /Industry Sponsorship or NRI Quota candidates must submit the signed Joint Declaration form and required documents to the Dean (Agriculture) and Chairman (Admission) of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore on defined dates. Candidates must carry with them all the original copies of the self-attested photocopies for verification. Verified candidates under special reservation quota can only attend the counselling process. It is important for the candidate to visit in person for document verification.
Tamil Nadu UG Agricultural Courses Eligibility Criteria
Check the eligibility criteria to apply for UG in Agricultural Courses in Tamil Nadu:
The candidate must be a native of Tamil Nadu.
The candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board.
The candidate must have passed in all the qualifying examinations.
Candidates applying for a B.Sc degree in Agriculture (except B.Sc. (Hons.) Food, Nutrition and Dietetics must have studied one of the following groups of subjects in the qualifying examination:
Group I: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology OR Group II: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and one elective subject (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science and Home Science Or Group II (A): Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.
Candidates applying for B.Sc. (Hons.) Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics must have studied one of the following groups of subjects in the qualifying examination:
Group I: Physics, Chemistry Mathematics and Biology OR Group II: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and one elective subject (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Computer Science and Home Science/ Nutrition and Dietetics Or Group II (A): Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.
Candidates applying for B.Tech in Agricultural courses must have studied one of the following groups of subjects in the qualifying examination:
Group I: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science
Minimum percentage in the qualifying examination must be as follows:
Candidates belonging to General, BC category must have scored an aggregate of 55% marks in four subjects required in the qualifying examination.
Most Backward Class and Denotified Communities (MBC) must have scored 45% marks
SC/ ST or SCA candidates must have passed in all the qualifying subjects.
The age of the candidate should not be more than 21 years. There is no age limit for SC/ ST and SCA candidates.
Tamil Nadu UG Agricultural Courses Selection Process 2022
Admission for undergraduate courses is done on merit basis. Marks obtained in the qualifying examination( Class XII) or equivalent are considered for admission.
However, 15% of the seats for B.Sc. Honors Agriculture, B.Sc. Honours Horticulture, B.Sc. Honors Forestry and B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) offered at Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Kumulur, Tiruchirappalli is reserved through ICAR AIEEA, New Delhi (a national level entrance exam).
30% of the total seats in affiliated colleges are reserved under Management quota. 60% of the seats in affiliated colleges are filled through the counselling process by TNAU.
Counselling Process
The TNAU counselling process is done in online mode. Through the counselling process, the candidate can select the degree and College/ Institute of their choice.
TNAU will release the rank list of candidates. The shortlisted candidates will receive an email and SMS who will have to pay the non-refundable counselling fee of Rs.2000/- (Rs. 1000/- for SC / SCA / ST categories. Payment can be done in online mode. It is mandatory to pay the fees to be considered for the further counselling process.
