AFCAT 2 Marking Scheme 2024

AFCAT Marks Normalisation Scheme 2024

For the AFCAT exam 2024, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has implemented a new marks normalisation method. This approach is intended to ensure that all applicants' marks are properly evaluated, regardless of the difficulty level of the question paper or the number of students that take the exam.

Each candidate's marks will be adjusted to a standard scale, ensuring that all candidates have an equal opportunity to progress to the next step of the selection process. The IAF follows the AFCAT normalization scheme 2024, and the formula is provided below:

AFCAT 2024 Normalisation Scheme Process

Scoring System

  • 3 marks for a correct answer: Every right answer earns you 3 marks, promoting accuracy.

  • -1 mark deduction for a wrong answer: Guessing is discouraged. Each incorrect answer results in a 1-mark deduction, stressing careful consideration.

  • No marks for unanswered questions: Leaving questions blank yields no marks, underscoring the importance of strategic attempts.

Score Normalization Procedure

  • Shift Mean and Standard Deviation: The average score (mean) and the distribution of scores (standard deviation) are computed for each shift.

  • Shift Scaling: Scores from each shift are adjusted based on their mean and standard deviation in relation to the overall test data. Scores from higher-scoring shifts are slightly reduced, while those from lower-scoring shifts are slightly increased, aligning all shifts to a common standard.

  • Final Normalized Score: Your ultimate score is determined using this adjusted score and a shared reference point, ensuring fair competition for everyone.
