Factors Determining XAT Cutoff 2025

Different parameters decide the cutoff marks for any examination. Candidates must keep these factors in mind while checking the XAT 2025 cutoff marks. To be placed on the cut-off list, candidates must work hard and prepare well for the XAT 2025. Let’s look at the factors determining the XAT cutoff 2025.

Factors Determining XAT Cutoff

  • Total Number of Candidates: XAT Cutoff 2025 will be heavily influenced by the number of applicants who apply and show up for the XAT exam. A large applicant pool results in greater competition and a higher overall cutoff, whereas a small pool results in less competition and a lower cutoff. Therefore, when the number of applicants is higher candidates can expect the cutoff to be higher as well.

  • Difficulty Level of the Exam: Another important factor that determines the XAT cutoff every year is the difficulty level of the XAT question paper. If the XAT 2025 questions are more challenging, the cutoff score is likely to be lowered and vice versa. The XAT difficulty level is a crucial component that should be considered when figuring out the XAT 2025 cutoff.

  • Total Number of Seats: The availability of seats at an institute that accepts XAT scores also determines the XAT cutoff for that particular institute. The amount of seats each institute offers for admission to its MBA and PGDM programs has an impact on the XAT sectional cutoff. More demand and a higher cutoff are associated with fewer seats, whereas fewer seats and a lower cutoff are associated with more seats.

  • Total Qualified Candidates: The number of candidates qualifying for XAT also influences the cutoff trends for the current academic year. If more candidates qualify for the XAT exam then it increases the number of college applications and the level of competition. This leads to XAT participating institutes to increase their XAT cutoffs to select only the best students out of the entire applicant pool.

  • College Ranking: It is a well-known fact that the best MBA colleges are also the toughest to get into. Since the top-ranked B-schools receive a huge amount of applications every year, the XAT cutoff for these institutes is also high to only allow the best candidates to secure admission.

  • Previous Years' Cutoff: XAT cutoff trends from previous years are also a determining factor for institutes. Typically the XAT cutoff follows a similar pattern as that of last year’s cutoff, both overall and sectional. This is why being aware of the previous year’s cutoff trends can be helpful for candidates who wish to seek admission in the current academic year.

What After XAT 2025 Cut Off?

Once the XAT 2025 cutoff is announced, XLRI Jamshedpur along with other XAT participating colleges will release the list of candidates who have been shortlisted for selection rounds including Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and Essay Writing. The XAT accepting colleges will send the GD/PI call letters to students via email. Aspirants who wish to participate in the XAT selection process of these colleges must fill out the online registration form for the XAT selection process for their preferred XAT participating institute. Candidates must apply to each of the colleges separately since there is no standardized XAT selection process. The GD/PI rounds at XLRI Jamshedpur are conducted in Delhi, Kolkata, Jamshedpur and Bangalore. Candidates must check the official website of their preferred colleges to know how the XAT selection process will be conducted for those institutes.

XAT 2025 Selection Process

Based on the performance in the XAT 2025 exam, Group Discussions (GD), and Personal Interviews, the XLRI Jamshedpur admission committee chooses applicants for admission to its PGDM programs (PI). For the HRM and BM programs, the institute sets a minimum cutoff for each category of students specifically for this reason. On the institute website, an online application form must be filled out by candidates who have achieved the XAT cutoff.

According to each participating institute, the XAT 2025 selection process is different. GD and PI rounds are part of the selection process. The institute selects a small group of candidates for the GD/PI phase. There is no unified process; each XAT participating institute has its own selection process. Students who are selected for XAT counselling are those whose scores placed them on the final merit list.

In campuses located in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Jamshedpur, this GD/PI round is held in February. GD/PI rounds have been conducted online since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Candidates are shortlisted for offers of admission following this tough personality assessment process. To the chosen applicants, email offers of admission are made in May.

Que: How will candidates know if they have converted their XLRI interview call?

Ans: XLRI Jamshedpur notifies each candidate by email regarding their selection. The interview round takes place in February or March, and the chosen candidates receive their offer letters in April or May. Individuals who do not receive the confirmation letter may assume they have not been accepted.

Que: Do candidates have to fill out the XLRI admission form separately?

Ans: Candidates can select XLRI Jamshedpur as a preferred college in the XAT 2025 application form. For XAMI member institutes or other MBA colleges accepting XAT, candidates have to register separately on their respective official websites when the applications open.

FAQs about XAT Cut Off

What is the XAT sectional cutoff?

The minimum percentile that applicants must achieve for each section of the exam is known as the "sectional cutoff" for the XAT. A candidate must have achieved at least 85 percentile in the XAT's Quantitative Aptitude part in order to be shortlisted for a group discussion and personal interview, for instance, if the test's cutoff is 85 percentile.

What is the importance of XAT cutoff during the XLRI PI selection?

When choosing candidates for the personal interview stage at XLRI Jamshedpur, the XAT cutoff is the most crucial factor. People who don't make the cutoff aren't even considered for PI shortlisting. Class 10, 12, and graduation grades, as well as the XAT cutoff, are the two primary factors used to choose candidates for the PI round.

What is XAT cutoff?

The XAT cutoff percentile is the minimum score that candidates must achieve to qualify for the XAT 2023 examination. It is the basis on which XLRI will shortlist the candidates for the next rounds of the selection process. Only the candidates who will score above the XAT cutoff will be eligible for admission to XLRI.

Can I get admission to XLRI without clearing the XAT cutoff?

No, you cannot get admission to XLRI without clearing the XAT cutoff. Also clearing the XAT cutoff does not guarantee admission to the institute. You will have to outperform the other candidates in group discussions and personal interview rounds.

When will the XAT cutoff 2025 be announced?

The XAT cutoff 2025 will be announced by XLRI by the last week of January or the first week of February 2025 on the website while the XAT 2024 results will be made available by the third or last week of January 2025.

What factors determine the XAT cutoff 2025?

The factors determining the XAT cutoff 2025 are the difficulty level of the XAT 2025 question paper, the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the total number of seats available for admission, the previous year’s cutoff and the rankings of the participating colleges.

What is the expected XAT 2025 sectional cutoff?

The expected XAT 2025 sectional cutoff is 8-8.5 for Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, 8.5-9 for Decision Making, and 9-11 for Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. The expected overall XAT cutoff 2025 for business management courses is between 32.5 and 33.5 and for human resource management is between 30 and 31.

Is the XAT cutoff set by XLRI accepted by other MBA colleges?

No, the XAT cutoff set by XLRI is not accepted by other MBA colleges. It is valid only for admission to XLRI. The other business schools set their own XAT cutoff to conduct the selection process of the candidates.

Is the XAT sectional cutoff also considered for admission to institutes?

No, the XAT sectional cutoff is not considered for admission to institutes. Only the overall cutoff determines whether one will get admission or not. However, candidates must aspire to maintain the sectional cutoff too so that they can be easily eligible for admission.

Is the XAT cutoff 2025 the same for all participating institutes?

No, the XAT cutoff 2025 is not the same for all participating institutes. The colleges fix their percentile for admission based on the criteria determined by the admission committee. The XAT cutoff of participating institutes ranges between the 75 percentile and 95 percentile.
