In the case of the Preliminary result, only the qualifying status of the candidate is displayed first. IBPS Preliminary Score Card is issued after a few days. However, the Mains Exam Scorecard will be released along with the qualifying status.
Candidates need to know that the marks they secure in the Prelims are subject to the parameters set by the exam conducting authority. The marks of the Prelims are out of 100 calculating the marks obtained by candidates in English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. The total marks allotted for the IBPS Clerk Mains 2024 exam are 200. However, the marks obtained by candidates are calculated out of 100 for Provisional Allotment. Marks obtained by candidates in the IBPS Clerk 2024 Mains exam along with the list of candidates qualified for provisional allotment will be declared together in April 2024. The corrected scores secured by each of the candidates in different sessions will be normalized using the equipercentile method. For calculation, two decimal point scores will be taken.
Candidates' scores are determined using a process called normalization. This involves normalizing the marks using the equi-percentile method. Since the exam is held in multiple sessions with different question papers, the normalization process is used to adjust for variations in the difficulty level of the question sets. The corrected scores obtained by each candidate in different sessions are adjusted through the normalization process. The scores are calculated accurately up to two decimal points and then rounded to two decimal places after the normalization process.
In situations where two or more candidates achieve the same score, the merit order is determined by considering the candidates' dates of birth. Preference is given to the candidate who is senior in age over the candidate who is junior in age. This means that older candidates are prioritized over younger ones in the merit order. This approach ensures a fair and transparent methodology in resolving score ties, thereby maintaining the integrity of the selection process.
It acknowledges the value of the experience that comes with age, positioning it as a decisive factor in instances where traditional markers of merit, such as test scores, fail to distinguish between candidates. Additionally, this method provides a clear and straightforward tie-breaking rule, which can be easily understood and applied by all parties involved in the selection process.
Once the IBPS Clerk 2024 Result is declared, candidates who have taken the online test will be able to check their results through the official website of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). Along with the result, a cut-off list will be released, which will allow candidates to determine their position in the list and find out whether they have cleared the cut-off marks or not. Candidates clearing the Mains will become eligible to participate in the IBPS Clerk 2024 Selection Process, which is designed for different posts at the clerical cadre.
In order to be considered for the interview process, each candidate will need to secure a minimum score in each test of the Online Main Examination as well as a minimum total score. Cut-offs are decided based on the number of vacancies available in each State/Union territory, and candidates will be considered for provisional allotment. Once selected, candidates will have the opportunity to secure their desired posts offered by different banks and financial institutions across the nation.
The provisional allotment of candidates is done in the following manner:
