IBPS Clerk Prelims Result Calculation

Students should be aware that the score they achieve in the Prelims examination is subject to the parameters as stated by the Institute of Personnel Banking Selection Board. The total marks for the IBPS Clerk Prelims examination are 100 marks, wherein questions are from three sections, namely, English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. The total marks allotted for the IBPS Clerk Mains 2024 exam are 200.

However, the marks obtained by students are calculated out of 100 for Provisional Allotment. Marks obtained by students in the IBPS Clerk 2024 Mains exam, along with the list of students qualified for provisional allotment, are expected to be declared on April 1, 2025. The corrected scores secured by each of the candidates in different sessions will be normalized using the equipercentile method. For calculation, two decimal point scores will be taken.

IBPS Clerk Result: Normalization of Marks

Students’ scores are determined using a process called normalization. This involves normalizing the marks using the equi-percentile method. Since the exam is held in multiple sessions with different question papers, the normalization process is used to adjust for variations in the difficulty level of the question sets. The corrected scores obtained by each student in different stages of the examination are adjusted through the normalization process. The scores are calculated accurately up to two decimal places and then rounded to two decimal places after the normalization process.

IBPS Clerk Tie-Breaking Policy

In situations where two or more candidates achieve the same score, the merit order is determined by considering the candidates' dates of birth. Preference is given to the candidate who is senior in age over the candidate who is junior in age. This means that older candidates are prioritized over younger ones in the merit order. This approach ensures a fair and transparent methodology in resolving score ties, thereby maintaining the integrity of the selection process.

It acknowledges the value of the experience that comes with age, positioning it as a decisive factor in instances where traditional markers of merit, such as test scores, fail to distinguish between candidates. Additionally, this method provides a clear and straightforward tie-breaking rule, which can be easily understood and applied by all parties involved in the selection process.

Post IBPS Clerk 2024 Result Declaration

Once the IBPS Clerk 2024 Result is declared, candidates who have taken the online test will be able to check their results through the official website of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). Along with the result, a cut-off list will be released, which will allow candidates to determine their position in the list and find out whether they have cleared the cut-off marks or not. Candidates clearing the Mains will become eligible to participate in the IBPS Clerk 2024 Selection Process, which is designed for different posts at the clerical cadre.

In order to be considered for the interview process, each candidate will need to secure a minimum score in each test of the Online Main Examination as well as a minimum total score. Cut-offs are decided based on the number of vacancies available in each State/Union territory, and candidates will be considered for provisional allotment. Once selected, candidates will have the opportunity to secure their desired posts offered by different banks and financial institutions across the nation.

IBPS Clerk Provisional Allotment

The provisional allotment of candidates is done in the following manner:

  • The marks of the mains exam are converted out of 100 for provisional allotment
  • Candidates should qualify in the mains exam and be sufficiently high in the merit to be considered for the provisional allotment process.
  • The allotment is done depending on the vacancies state-wise and merit-cum-preference of candidates.
  • Candidates belonging to the reserved category selected as per the norms of the General Category are treated at par with General Category candidates.
  • Such own merit candidates belonging to reserved categories who are allotted provisionally under the unreserved (General) category are not adjusted against a reserved post. Their original category, as registered in the online registration, remains unchanged.
  • The provisional allotment is subject to candidates fulfilling the criteria for the participating organization and verification of identity.
  • A letter of appointment is provided by the participating organization.
  • A reserve list, to the extent of approximately 10 per cent of the vacancies under each category, is maintained subject to the availability of candidates.
