JIPMER MBBS Tie-Resolving Policy 2020
In many cases, the exam authority faces an issue where two or more candidates secure the same percentile or marks in the JIPMER MBBS exam. In such cases, the inter-se merit of the candidates in the JIPMER MBBS exam shall be determined as follows.
Tie Breaker 1 - Negative Marks
As per Tie-Breaker (Rule 1), candidates with less negative marks in the JIPMER MBBS exam shall be placed higher in the merit list than the other candidate.
Example: If student ‘A’ and ‘B’ scored 95 percentile in JIPMER MBBS exam 2019 and student ‘B’ has less negative marks in the exam, student ‘B’ shall be placed higher in the merit list than student ‘A’.
Tie Breaker 2 - Biology
If the tie still exists even after applying Rule 1, the second rule is applied to resolve the same. In such cases, a candidate with higher marks in Biology shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other student.
Tie Breaker 3 - Chemistry
If the tie still exists even after applying Rule 1 & 2, the third rule is applied to resolve the tie. In such cases, a candidate with higher marks in Chemistry shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate.
Tie Breaker 4 - Physics
If the tie still exists even after applying Rule 1, 2 & 3, the fourth rule is applied to resolve the tie. In case of a tie, candidate with higher marks in Physics shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate.
Tie Breaker 5 - English Language
If the tie still exists even after applying the above four rules, the fifth rule is applied to resolve the tie. In case of a tie, candidate with higher marks in the English Language shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate.
Tie Breaker 6 - Logical & Quantitative Reasoning
If the tie still persists even after applying the above five rules, the sixth rule is applied to resolve the tie. In case of a tie, candidate with higher marks in Logical & Quantitative Reasoning section of JIPMER MBBS exam shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidates.
Tie Breaker 7 - Age
Finally, a candidate who is elder in age shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate. The rule is applied if tie still exists even after applying the above rules.
