The MICAT 2025 exam for PGP admissions (2025-27) will be held in two phases: Phase I on December 7, 2024, and Phase II on January 25, 2025, both as computer-based tests. The application form for Phase 1 has been released in September 2024, and the admit cards will be available on December 4, 2024, and January 22, 2025, for Phase 1 and 2 respectively.

About MICAT 2025 (Registration Open)

The MICAT 2025 notification and application form has been released on September 20, 2024. The MICAT 2025 exam for Phase I will be conducted on December 7, 2024, while the MICAT 2024 Phase II exam will be conducted on January 25, 2025, in a computer-based-test mode. The MICAT 2025 application form deadline is November 22, 2024. The MICAT admit card 2025 for Phase I and II will be released on December 4, 2024, and January 22, 2025. The MICAT 2025 results for MICAT I will be released in the last week of December 2024, while the results for MICAT II will be released in February 2025. The GE & PI rounds have been scheduled to be conducted from March 2025.

What is MICAT 2025?

MICAT 2025 is a management entrance exam that is conducted by Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA), Ahmedabad. The exam provides admission to MICA's flagship two years long PGDM-C program, also known as, Post Graduate Diploma in Management Communications. MICAT is conducted twice a year for aspirants, i.e. in the months of December and February. The better of the two MICAT exam performances will be considered for shortlisted candidates for admission to the MICA, Ahmedabad.

MICAT is a computer-based test that comprises both objective and subjective questions. The question paper is divided into 6 distinct parts arranged into 3 sections, which are:

  • Section A - Psychometric Section
  • Section B - Descriptive Test
  • Section C - Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, General Awareness, Divergent & Convergent Thinking

Section A (Psychometric Test) acts as the initial gatekeeper on the basis of which candidates will be evaluated in sections B and C. If a candidate doesn't qualify for Section A, he will not be evaluated on the consequent sections. Those who clear sections A and B, will be evaluated in Section C. MICAT test-takers qualifying for all three sections will be shortlisted for Group Exercise and Personal Interview.

For admissions in 2025, candidates are required to take the MICA Admissions Test (MICAT) alongside one of the AICTE-approved exams—CAT, XAT, or GMAT. Those with valid scores in MICAT, CAT, XAT, or GMAT are shortlisted for the Group Exercise and Personal Interview, followed by final selection for admission.

MICAT Eligibility Criteria 2025

The MICAT eligibility criteria 2025 are defined by MICA to select candidates for its flagship PGDM-C and other programs. Candidates who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for the MICAT 2025 exam. 

  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) to seek admission to the Post-graduate Programmes (PGP), both PGDM (C) and PGDM.

  • Candidates can also obtain an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

  • Candidates who are taking the final examination for a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply.

  • Candidates are more likely to be shortlisted if they exhibit the ability for communicating, evaluating, and/or conceiving ideas that spur action and produce effective business results. 

MICAT 2025 Registration

To fill out the application form for MICAT 2025, candidates had to visit the official website. After registering successfully for the exam, candidates receive their respective login IDs and passwords via email.

The MICAT 2025 registration process involves the following steps:

  1. Candidates are required to click on the category ‘New Registration’ and complete the registration process.
  2. Next, candidates must fill out the MICAT application form after completing the registration. 
  3. Fill out your personal details, reference details, academic information, upload your photograph and signature, and choose your exam center preference.
  4. After this, the applicants need to pay an application fee of Rs. 2100.
  5. Finally, they need to submit the application form online.

If you applied and appeared in MICAT-I or not, and whether you want to apply for MICAT-II, will determine the processes to apply for MICAT-II. You must perform the steps listed below in both cases:

MICAT 2025 Result

MICA, Ahmedabad releases the results for MICAT Phase I and Phase II on its official website. MICAT 2025 Result will be released in the first week of April 2025. Test-takers can follow the given steps to check their MICAT result 2025:

  • Log on to the official website mica.ac.in
  • On the homepage, click on the link available to access the result.
  • You will be redirected to a page where you have to enter your login credentials.
  • Click on the 'Login' tab after entering the required credentials and your scorecard will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download and save your MICAT 2025 scorecard.
  • Take a printout of the result for future reference.

The result is prepared on the basis of a candidate's cumulative performance in MICAT and GE-PI. Based on the marks obtained, students will be shortlisted for the next step of the selection process which comprises Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI).

MICAT 2025 Expected Cut Off

MICAT cutoff 2025 will be released by MICA on its official website after the Phase II exam result declaration. MICAT 2025 cutoff marks are the minimum marks that candidates must score to qualify for the MICAT 2025 GE & PI rounds. MICAT 2025 Selection Process

MICAT 2025 Selection Process includes the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview for which candidates are selected based on their performance on the CAT, XAT, GMAT, and MICAT exams. Preparation of a shortlist for candidates for the GE and PI rounds includes the following aspects:

  1. Section A of MICAT 2025, the Psychometric Test, is a qualifying section.

  2. The relative performance on the CAT, XAT, and GMAT will be taken into consideration for those who qualify for the psychometric test. Candidates who achieve a minimum cut-off in the total percentile for the CAT, XAT, or GMAT will be taken into consideration.

  3. Section B of MICAT 2025 will be evaluated for those who meet the requirements based on their performance on the CAT, XAT, or GMAT.

  4. MICAT 2025 Section C scores will be evaluated for those who meet the requirements based on relative performance and who meet a minimal cutoff in Section B's normalized scores. Each component will have a separate cutoff.

  5. Candidates who meet the criteria in points a, b, c, and d above (based on relative performance and subject to a minimum cut-off in normalized scores under Section C of the MICAT) will be shortlisted for GE and PI rounds. Candidates who have been shortlisted will be called for GE and PI in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

(The list of candidates for GE and PI is created using a composite score formula that employs 50% CAT, XAT, GMAT scores, and 50% MICAT scores).

What distinguishes MICAT I from MICAT II?

The primary difference between MICAT I and II lies in their respective sessions. While analyzing the syllabus and exam pattern, there is no significant difference between the two sessions. MICA University, Ahmedabad, conducts MICAT for admissions into various PGDM-C and PGDM courses.

Is it mandatory to take both MICAT 1 and 2?

Yes, it is mandatory to take both MICAT 1 and 2. As part of the MICA Selection Process for admission to MICA Ahmedabad, candidates can opt to take either MICAT I or II. However, for those who complete both MICAT I and II, the higher of the two scores will be considered.

Is MICAT tougher than CAT?

MICAT and CAT are both very different exams. While MICAT focuses more on testing the creativity of a candidate, CAT is more about testing a candidate's analytical and numerical ability. MICAT evaluates the ability to solve questions quickly while CAT focuses on the question-solving technique. That being said, the difficulty level of CAT is surely higher than that of MICAT.

How many candidates appear for MICAT every year?

On average, around 5,000 to 6,000 students appear for MICAT every year. However, only 700 to 800 students are able to crack the test by securing the required cut-off MICAT scores. Only 15-18% of the students make it to the second round of the selection process of the institute.

Are CAT scores required along with MICAT scores for admission?

Yes, a candidate must submit their score in CAT, XAT or GMAT when applying for MICA in addition to appearing for MICAT. Even though the scores are needed to be submitted there is no weightage given to the scores in the computation of the composite score used for ranking. 

 

How many seats are available in MICAT?

There are a total of 180 seats PGDM-C and 36 PGDM seats in MICA Ahmedabad for which admissions are done through MICAT scores. You can understand that the competition is very high with the limited number of seats for the courses, therefore it is essential to prepare extremely well to get the most coveted seat in MICA Ahmedabad.

Is MICAT a tough exam?

The difficulty level of MICAT usually ranges from Easy to Moderate with only some of the questions found to be difficult by most of the candidates. Often the paper is lengthy which makes it challenging for the students to complete the examination paper.

How many times is MICAT conducted in a year?

MICAT is conducted twice every year, once in December and once in February. So if you have missed the first exam date you can take it again when MICA-II  will be conducted. Also if you feel your performance was not up to the mark for admission to MICA, you can re-take the test.
