For the most part, the IIFT syllabus and the CAT syllabus are similar in nature. The overall difficulty level of both the IIFT syllabus and CAT syllabus is equal. While the CAT syllabus has a higher difficulty level in terms of the VARC section, the IIFT Quantitative Aptitude section is comparatively tougher. In CAT VARC, RC-based questions are given more weight than they are in IIFT. Also, both fact-based and inference-based passages can be found in the RC section of the CAT. The RC portions in IIFT, however, are supported by facts only. The IIFT syllabus places more emphasis on verbal and linguistic skills than reading comprehension.
