About FMGE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

FMGE 2025 eligibility criteria are that students must be citizens of India or overseas citizens of India, and they must be a verified practitioner certified by the MCI and Indian embassy to appear in the FMGE 2025 examination. FMGE 2025 Detailed Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must be well acquainted with the NBE-prescribed FMGE 2025 eligibility criteria prior to appearingfor the exam. Thus, here are the required eligibility criteria for Indian candidates and overseas aspirants for FMGE 2025 exam:

Domicile: 

The applicant must be a citizen of India or an overseas citizen of India and they must have a minimum medical qualification of an MBBS degree or equivalent, as suggested by the Indian Embassy.

Academic Qualification:

  • Candidates must hold a recognized qualification for enrollment as a medical practitioner.  

  • Aspirants must submit results of their final examination of primary medical qualification declared on or before 31st October 2025. It should also clearly specify that the aspirants have been declared PASS /QUALIFIED in the final examinations in all mandatory required courses. Failure to provide this proof will lead to disqualification from the FMGE 2025 exam for June session.

  • Candidates can check the Screening Test Regulation, Eligibility Certificate Regulation, and Regulations on Graduate Medical Education issued by the MCI (Medical Council of India).

Nationality

Aspirants who have obtained their primary medical qualification from Pakistan will be subject to their security clearance held by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt of India. The result of the candidates for FMGE shall only be declared on receipt of MHA security clearance as curated by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India direction vide Letter No C.18018/09/2004-MEP dated 26-11-2018.

Country Wise Eligibility Criteria

While most of the students who have completed their medical undergraduate degrees from any foreign country need to pass the FMGE 2025 exam to practice Western medicine in India, the graduates of a few countries are exempted from this requirement. Those countries are as follows:

  • New Zealand

  • Australia

  • Canada

  • United States of America

  • United Kingdom

The FMGE is a screening test for Indian aspirants and Overseas candidates who wish to get provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council. Candidates can appear for FMGE 2025 exam as many times as they want. However, they need to meet all the eligibility criteria of the FMGE 2025.

FMGE 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Who Are Not Eligible?

The FMGE eligibility criteria for  Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India is decided by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).   • In case any candidate submits/produces any kind of false or incomplete information/ documents to the officials. his/her candidature will be canceled and will not be considered under any circumstances. 

  • If any candidate fails to produce or upload the necessary documents within the stipulated time frame, will not be allowed as per the FMGE 2025 eligibility criteria for the June session.

  • If the applicant is receiving their primary medical degree/certificate after the FMGE 2025 application date is over, they will not be considered as per the FMGE 2025 eligibility criteria.

FMGE Eligibility Criteria 2025 Exemption

Certain countries are exempted and students who took their degrees from those countries are not eligible to appear in the FMGE 2025 examination. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America medical graduates of Indian origin are not eligible to appear in the examination as per the NBE exam authorities. Further, there is no attempt limit set by the NBE authorities to appear for the examination. Students can appear in the examination until they pass it. The exam happens two times a year therefore, they can attempt at any one time if failed in the last exam attempt. Students who have taken their medical degrees from India or other countries are eligible for the FMGE exam 2025 but other factors influence the eligibility for appearing in the exam. 

What After Being Eligible for FMGE 2025 Exam?

After students become eligible for the FMGE exam 2025, students will have to register themselves within the specified deadlines. They will have to sign in and fill out the registration form with details like their name, parents' name, date of birth, educational qualifications, address detail, and so on. They will have to upload scanned and attested copies of the set of documents in the FMGE 2025 application form like identity proof, mark sheets, certificates, attested signatures, passport-size photographs, address proof, etc. They will have to pay a definite application fee through net banking, debit, or credit card within the deadlines. They will also get an option to edit or make changes in their FMGE 2025 application form with specified dates based on which their admit card will be generated by the exa, authorities. The FMGE 2025 admit card will consist of all the required information about the exam centre, exam date, exam venue, and timings. It will also consist of important instructions and things not to carry at the exam centre.
