FMGE 2024 December Session exam was conducted on January 12, 2025, online. The exam was conducted in two shifts on January 12, 2025. The first shift was held from 9 am to 11.30 am and the second shift was held from 2 pm to 4.30 pm online. Time Allotted and Its Adequacy:

  • After enquiring candidates whether the time allotted for the FMGE 2023 December Exam was adequate, a total of about 97% test-takers responsed with a positive "yes", indicating a properly organised question pattern by the authorities in favour of the candidates, for which no candidate felt pressurized to complete their entrance exam in a rush.

  • However, a mere 3% of test-takers responded with disappointment while talking about the adequacy of the exam duration.

Overall Difficulty of the Exam:

The survey results revealed that the overall difficulty of the FMGE July 2023 exam was perceived as moderate by 62.3% of the candidates. On the other hand, 37.7% of candidates considered the exam to be difficult, indicating a varied level of complexity that challenged different test-takers.

Question Patterns and Difficulty Levels:

The FMGE July 2023 analysis of question patterns showed that the exam comprised three main types of questions. Clinical questions constituted 35.2% of the paper, requiring candidates to apply medical knowledge to real-world scenarios. Concept-based questions made up 55.6% of the exam, testing candidates' understanding of fundamental principles. Additionally, 9.3% of the questions were in the form of one-liners, assessing concise knowledge.

Regarding the difficulty level of the questions, 35.2% of candidates found the questions challenging, while a majority (63%) considered them to be of moderate difficulty. The remaining 1.8% perceived the questions as easy. Some candidates highlighted that they encountered one-liner questions that were entirely unfamiliar, presenting a unique challenge.

Subjects with High Weightage:

The survey identified specific subjects with high weightage in the FMGE July 2023 exam. These subjects included Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG), Surgery, Medicine, Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM), Pharmacology, Paediatrics, Biochemistry, and Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT). Candidates preparing for the exam can focus on these subjects to improve their chances of scoring well.

Number of Questions Attempted:

Efficient time management is crucial in any competitive exam. According to the survey, a significant majority of candidates (96.4%) attempted 150-200 questions in the FMGE July 2023 exam. This suggests that candidates, in general, were able to cover a substantial portion of the paper within the allocated time frame.

Time Allotted and Its Adequacy:

When asked about the time allotted for the exam, 75% of the students stated that the given time was sufficient for them to complete the test. This positive feedback indicates that a considerable number of candidates managed their time effectively and completed the exam without feeling rushed. However, 25% of the candidates expressed that they found the allotted time insufficient to finish the exam comfortably.
