In UPSC ESE Prelims, objective-type questions will be asked from General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Engineering Discipline. The Main Exam will comprise two papers where subjective type questions will be asked from Engineering Discipline. The UPSC ESE Exam Pattern 2025 gives students an idea of how exactly the paper will be framed. Candidates who qualify for the UPSC ESE Prelims exam will be called to appear for the Mains exam.
There will be 2 papers in the IES Mains exam as well. Both papers, nevertheless, will be conventional in style.
Also, the subjects for both exams will be drawn from the core engineering fields you choose when filling out the application form: civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and electronics telecommunication engineering.
If your handwriting is unreadable, the commission has the right to take away up to 5% of the total marks.
