AILET 2025 Counselling Process (Begins Today)

AILET Counselling 2025: The AILET 2025 counselling process dates are out and will be organised across 4 rounds by the National Law University, Delhi. The counselling registration will open today, December 13, 2024, 6 pm, and conclude at December 22, 2024, 11 am. To complete the registration, they have to fill out the online form and pay the counselling registration fee of Rs 30000 (for General Category) and Rs 20000 (For SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PWD). Please note that, the category-wise counselling invite list will be issued before the registration begins. Those who are on the list can participate in the AILET counselling process 2025.

The 1st list of provisional selected students will be displayed on December 27, 2024. Those chosen per the provisional list have to deposit the required provisional admission confirmation fee by January 4, 2025, 11 am. The direct link for AILET 2025 counselling registration will be updated below -

Documents Required for AILET 2025 Counselling

While registering for AILET online counselling, aspirants must upload the following self-attested documents in the sequence listed below (in PDF format in one file) - 

  • Result Card of Class 10th and Class 12th Examination or equivalent examination.
  • Character Certificate from the last attended institution.
  • Valid category certificate (PwD/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ KM/ Resident of Jammu and Kashmir etc.) if applied under these categories. 
  • Other supporting documents. 
  • Counselling Fee of Rs 50,000/- (approx) through Digital Payment methods.
  • Provisional admission fee of Rs 82,500/- (approx) as balance charges through Digital modes like Credit/ Debit Card, net banking, UPI, RTGS/NEFT. 

Step by Step AILET 2025 Counselling Process

Here are the major steps of the AILET 2025 counselling process -

Online Counselling Registration

  • Applicants for admission to NLU Delhi are counselled entirely online. All participants are encouraged to check the AILET counselling invite list to see if they have been shortlisted. In addition, an email / SMS will be sent to all suitable candidates on their enrolled email address / mobile number inviting them to attend counselling. 
  • Counselling information will also be made available on the university's website, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. NLU Delhi will not be held liable for emails or SMS that are not delivered.
  • Counselling Registration Fees can only be paid through digital payment options such as credit/ debit card/ net banking/ UPI, and so on. Candidates must upload the following self-attested documents mentioned above when enrolling for Online Counselling before the deadline.
  • Only those students who have completed the counselling registration formalities and paid the requisite Counselling Registration Fee as well as the Provisional Admission Confirmation Fee within the specified time frame will be included in the University's provisional merit list. 
  • Meanwhile they must remember that registration for counselling does not promise a seat.

Pay the Online Counselling Registration Fees

  • To confirm their registration, the applicants are required to pay the charges within the deadline. Payment requests received after the deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances.
  • Only online payments will be allowed. Aspirants are encouraged not to wait until the last moment to make payments. NLU Delhi shall not be held liable for any payment-related concerns. The applicants must wait till they see the notification 'Payment Successful' after making the payment.

Provisional Merit List of Selected Candidates: Category-Wise

  • Provisional admission is granted to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria stated by the admission committee. If a candidate's name appears on the list of provisionally qualified applicants, the candidate must pay the Rs.50,000 provisional admission confirmation charge within the time frame specified, or the provisional admission offer will be automatically cancelled, and the Counselling Registration fee paid will be forfeited. 
  • The university will also publish category-specific waiting lists of candidates who have enrolled for Online Counselling. If a vacancy occurs as a result of a provisionally selected candidate withdrawing from admission or failing to pay the balance fee within the specified time limit, the seat will be filled from the waiting list of candidates in the order of merit.
  • Fee payment requests received after the deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances. Candidates are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to make payments to avoid payment difficulties.
  • They must save the acknowledgement slip that is generated following a successful payment. Only those students who successfully registered for online counselling and submitted the counselling registration fee but could not make it to the provisional merit list of the appropriate categories for admission will have their counselling registration fee refunded.

AILET 2025 Counselling: Important Points to Remember

Here are some critical points that are followed during AILET 2025 counselling -

  • The University will compile a merit list based on the candidates' performance in the entrance exam. The shortlisted students will get a call letter to attend the counselling. 
  • Typically, the institution invites nearly three times the amount of candidates to each category for the counselling procedure, and the counselling process will continue for multiple rounds.
  • The admission of the applicants is subject to them having passed the 10+2 or an equivalent examination with not less than 45% for the unreserved and 40% for SC or ST or candidates with Disability for the BA LLB (Hons.) program and the LLM program.
  • The admission for the LLM program will be subject to the candidates having the marks card of BA LLB (Hons.)/ LLB or similar equivalent examination.
  • Only candidates who have registered and paid the counselling fee within the time limit will be included in the University's preliminary merit list.
  • Registration for the Counselling does not guarantee a seat.
  • If an applicant's name appears on the list of provisionally selected candidates, the candidate must pay the remaining fee within the time frame specified. Otherwise, the provisional admission offer will be cancelled, and the counselling fee paid will be forfeited.
  • The rest must be paid through the same portal/ interface that candidates used to register for Counselling.
  • The University will announce the second list of provisionally selected students from the waiting list to provide admission to several law programs.
  • Candidates who are chosen will be notified of their selection via email by the University. They will also find the information on the University's website.
  • Applicants will receive a deadline for admission, after which the offer of admission will be cancelled.
  • The same method will be adopted in the case of wait-listed applicants.
  • The University will also publish category-specific waiting lists of only those individuals who have enrolled for online Counselling.

AILET 2025 Result: Tie Breaker Rule

When two or more individuals have the exact marks, the authorities use the tie-breaker rule to determine their merit rank. 

Candidates should review the tie-breaker rule listed below -

  • Candidates with higher scores in certain sections may be ranked higher compared to the others sections.
  • If the tie exists, applicants receive better marks based on seniority.
  • If the tie remains, the authorities select the rank by a computerised lottery.
