AP SET 2025 Selection Process

The AP SET 2025 selection process will be strictly based on the rules and regulations specified by the University Grants Commission (UGC). As per the rules of UGC, only 6% of candidates who have cleared the AP SET 2025 exam shall be declared eligible to take up the Assistant Professor role in colleges or universities across the state. The detailed selection procedure and criteria of AP SET 2025 are elaborated below, and this will help the candidates to have a detailed understanding of the exact selection process that is followed in the AP SET exam.

The selection process of the APSET Exam 2025 includes a Written Examination and Document Verification. It is necessary for students to clear the written examination which is an essential step in the selection process. Read the process in detail.

Written Examination

There will be two papers in the written examination. There will be questions worth 300 marks. The candidates will have to answer a common paper and the subject-specific question paper. Besides qualifying the question paper, candidates should meet the cut off marks. Only by scoring the marks and meeting the cut off will help them to go ahead.

Document Verification

The candidateโ€™s documents will be verified by the Andhra university. Once the written exam result is declared, the documents for the candidates will be verified. There will be different documents required such as Class 10 certificate, PG pass certificate/Certificate from the head of the institution (if pursuing PG), PG marks statement of all semesters, caste certificate or EWS certificate etc.

AP SET 2025 Selection Criteria

To be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor in universities or colleges across Andhra Pradesh, the candidates must satisfy the following AP SET 2025 selection criteria -

  • The candidates must have appeared in two papers of AP SET 2025.

  • Candidates belonging to General Category must score a minimum of 40% of aggregate marks in two papers to be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor.

  • For SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates, the minimum qualifying aggregate percentage is 35%.

AP SET 2025 - Method of Selection

To understand the method of selection of AP SET 2025, the candidates can go through the example below -

Example 1: Let us assume that 6,00,000 candidates appeared for the AP SET 2025 exam. As per UGC rules, only 6% of candidates out of 6,00,000 shall be declared qualified for the exam. In all, only 36,000 candidates shall be declared eligible for taking up the Assistant Professor role in colleges or universities across the state.

Example 2: Let us assume that 4,00,000 candidates appeared for the AP SET 2025 exam. As per UGC rules, only 6% of candidates out of 4,00,000 shall be declared qualified in the exam. In all, approximately 66,000 candidates shall be declared eligible for taking up the Assistant Professor role in colleges or universities across the state.

Example 3: Let us assume that 1,20,000 candidates appeared for the AP SET 2025 exam. As per UGC rules, only 6% of candidates out of 1,20,000 shall be declared qualified in the exam. In all, 20,000 candidates shall be declared eligible for taking up the Assistant Professor role in colleges or universities across the state.

Note: The top 6% of candidates qualifying for the AP SET 2025 exam shall be declared eligible for the post of Assistant Professor.

The reservation policies of the respective state government shall be also considered while selecting the candidates.
