CTET Cutoff 2024

The CTET cutoff 2024 is established by the CBSE in the form of qualifying marks, applicable to both reserved and unreserved categories. The minimum qualifying marks for the general category candidates have been prescribed to at least 90 out of 150, which equates to a passing percentage of 60. The reserved category candidates need to obtain at least 82.5 out of 150, which is 55%, to pass the exam. The cutoff represents the minimum percentile required for candidates to qualify for the exam.

The CBSE will conduct the CTET 2024 exam for the December session on December 14, 2024, and the result will be released in Janaury 2025. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) retains the exclusive right to modify the minimum qualifying marks or the CTET cut-off. Such adjustments depend upon the paper's difficulty level and the number of candidates participating in the exam. Candidates need to clear the CTET 2024 cutoff, and only then they will be issued eligibility certificates. Find the complete information about the CTET 2024 cutoff, minimum qualifying percentage, and more on this page.

Factors Determining CTET 2024 Cutoff

The CTET 2024 cutoff is different for both the General and reserved categories of candidates. Although the CTET 2024 cutoff or the CTET qualifying marks has been fixed by CBSE, it has been determined by taking into account a range of factors. It must also be noted that meeting the CTET qualifying cutoff is enough to make a candidate eligible for teaching roles in government schools, however, achieving a higher score on the exam will make it easier for aspirants to get hired. The factors that determine the CTET cutoff include the following:

  • Number of candidates appearing in the CTET Exam: Every year a sizeable number of candidates appear for the CTET exam. The more the number of candidates the higher the competition.
  • Total Number of Vacancies: The number of vacancies for teaching positions through CTET is also a big factor in determining the CTET cutoff.
  • Difficulty Level of the CTET Question Paper: The difficulty level of the CTET question paper also determines the CTET cutoff for both the General and reserved category candidates.
  • CTET Previous year's cut-off: The CTET cutoff always follows a similar trend to that of the previous year’s cutoff. Candidates can expect the CTET cutoff to remain similar to that of last year’s and prepare for the exam accordingly.

Que: Does the CTET cutoff change every year?

Ans: Typically, the CTET cutoff remains the same as that of the previous year cutoff marks. However, the Central Board of Secondary Education may change the cutoff depending on the question paper's difficulty level and other factors.

Que: How many students clear the CTET cutoff?

Ans: Every year lakhs of students apply for the CTET exam but only a small fraction of the applicant pool is able to clear the CTET qualifying cutoff. Only 15%-18% of the candidates are expected to clear the CTET exam.

Dear Student,

Due to the CTET normalisation process, there is a chance that your marks may be increased or decreased. Due to various factors, including differences in difficulty levels across different test sessions, the normalisation process helps ensure fairness and equity among all candidates. As a result, there might be fluctuations in your final marks; they could potentially increase or decrease depending on the overall performance of the candidates in your specific testing group. This means that if you perform exceptionally well compared to others, your marks may see an upward adjustment.
