The Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) and Kingston School of Art at Kingston University in London collaborate to conduct the IIAD Entrance Exam, an institute-level examination. The exam's purpose is to identify qualified applicants for the institute's undergraduate and postgraduate design courses.

Depending on the level of the programme, IIAD 2025 consists of a written entrance exam, a studio test, and a round of personal interviews. The two-hour written exam is used to evaluate the applicant's creative abilities as well as various other abilities. Candidates are chosen for IIAD courses based on their performance in the studio exam or personal interview stage as well as their overall obtained score.

How To Apply For IIAD Exam 2025?

The IIAD application form can be filled out in online mode. Refer to the steps below: 

• Step 1. Register yourself on the official website: Students are required to first go to the official website of the institute. There they have to make a new applicant account by registering themselves. 
• Step 2. Fill out the Application Form: After registering themselves, students can start with the application process. They have to fill out all the information including academic, personal and contact. 
• Step 3. Upload an SOP: They have to upload a well-written SOP with the application form. 
• Step 4. Pay the Application Fee: Students have to pay the application fee of INR 2,500 in online mode. It is the last step of completing the application process, only after paying fees the form will be considered submitted. 
• Step 5. Submit & keep a Printout: It is suggested to get a printout of the application form after the final submission for future reference.

IIAD 2025 Application Form Correction

IIAD 2025 application form correction cannot be done once the form is submitted. There is no application correction window opened for students to edit or correct any filled-out detail. So, we advise students to double-check all the details before submitting the form.

IIAD 2025 Exam Fee

The IIAD 2025 exam fee for all categories of students is INR 2,500. Candidates can pay this fee in online mode or through cash or demand draft, depending on their application form mode. Also, this application fee is non-refundable once it is paid.

IIAD DAT Eligibility Criteria 2025 for UG Courses

Below are the eligibility criteria for the UG design course:

• Candidates must have passed the class 12th exam from any stream (Science, Commerce or Arts) with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks from a recognised board. 
• Also, candidates who are awaiting their class 12 results are eligible for this entrance. 

Candidates must belong to any of the below-mentioned boards:

• Indian State Boards
• Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
• Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
• International Baccalaureate (IB)
• Apart from these any Indian or International approved higher secondary board

IIAD DAT Eligibility Criteria 2025 for PG Courses

Students applying for PG design courses must check the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

• Candidates must have qualified for the UG level exam or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised board or university are eligible to apply. 
• Students who are appearing for the UG exam can also fill out the application form and seek admission at IIAD.

IIAD Lateral Entry Admissions

IIAD lateral entry admission will be granted to candidates who have completed their first year of a design degree or diploma programme from a recognised national or international design institute. The direct admission at IIAD will be based on the performance of the candidate in portfolio presentations and personal interview rounds.

Candidates are advised to only follow the prescribed syllabus and IIAD 2025 exam pattern to be on track from the exam perspective. The exam pattern will include the exam mode, question types, duration of the exam and the marking scheme details. So, students must keep an eye on both these factors and align their preparation accordingly. 

It will consist of two parts - objective type (multiple choice questions, drawing & sketching) and descriptive answer questions. 

• The total mark is 200 and the marks for each correct answer differ with a question. 
• It includes 2 subjects and each section has a different number of questions.
• This exam doesn’t have any negative marking scheme.
• The total exam duration is 2 hours. 

IIAD 2025 Topic-Wise Weightage

There are two parts of the IIAD exam - Part A and B. Both parts will comprise questions of 100 marks each. Students will be allotted 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete this exam. While the iMAT exam will be held for 2 hours only. 

IIAD 2025 Syllabus and exam pattern both are important aspects of the exam. The question paper will follow the topics and sections from the official syllabus. The IIAD 2025 admit card will be released on the official website. It is expected to be issued a few days before the exam date. 

This hall ticket will only be provided to the candidates who have successfully registered for the entrance exam by completing the last step of paying the application fee. How to download the IIAD 2025 Admit Card?

IIAD entrance exam centres are for candidates who have applied for any mode of test including online or offline. The exam centre has to be selected while filling up the application form itself. As the exam centre preference cannot be changed after selecting it, candidates are advised to choose it wisely considering all factors. Candidates must note that there are only a few things that are required at the IIAD exam centre which include:

• IIAD admit card - Candidates should keep at least 2 print-out copies of the admit card to avoid last-minute rush. No matter admit card must be kept for appearing at the entrance. 
• Original ID Proof - Carrying a valid ID proof is very important as without it candidates will not be allowed to enter inside the exam centre.

IIAD 2025 results will be once out when the entrance exam is successfully conducted. It will be announced online on the official website. Candidates have to log in to their result portal using login credentials to view their results. 

The result will comprise the applicant's rank, sectional and overall marks on the exam. This merit rank will determine the candidate’s seats in the seat allotment process. Candidates who have secured a higher merit rank will be given priority in this seat allotment round.

As per the official website, IIAD doesn’t release any IIAD cutoff score. The conducting body releases only results, including the overall, section-wise marks. It also releases a merit list listing the shortlisted candidate names. As mentioned above, the admission will be based on the written exam, personal interview, and studio simulation rounds.

The selection for the undergraduate design courses is based on two parts - the IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) and the Studio Simulation round. 

For undergraduate and postgraduate Fashion Management courses, students have to appear for the IIAD Management Aptitude Test (iMAT) and Personal Interview & Portfolio Evaluation rounds. Overall, the selection is dependent on the score of the written test and performance in studio simulation & portfolio evaluation rounds.

IIAD also takes lateral entries, however, there are some criteria to be followed for this type of admission. Candidates willing to apply for lateral admission must check out the below details:

• IIAD exam 2025 lateral entry admission grants admission to the candidate directly in the second year of the design course offered at the institition.
• Candidates who have completed their first year of a diploma or degree in a design programme from a nationally or internationally recognised design college can apply for this entry.
• Moreover, admission will be granted based on the performance of candidates in personal interviews and portfolio presentation rounds.

IIAD offers five bachelor-level courses and only one master-level course. For the other four non-management courses, candidates will have to sit for iDAT (IIAD Design Aptitude Test). Students must note that IIAD scores are only accepted by IIAD. Other than IIAD, no other colleges in India accept the scores of its institute-level exam. The scores of this exam will help students gain admission to their preferred design course.
