JIPMER PG 2020 (July 2020 session) eligibility criteria have been prescribed by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry. Applicants applying for JIPMER PG 2020 (July Session 2020) must ensure that they satisfy the JIPMER PG eligibility criteria as laid by the exam conducting authority. The eligibility norms of JIPMER PG mentions the basic minimum requirements like, Nationality, Educational Qualifications, Experience, Minimum Qualifications that applicants must fulfil to be eligible for the entrance exam. It is to be noted that eligibility criteria for the candidates appearing for MD/MS and MDS courses vary from each other. The examination conducting authority also prescribes that a candidate will have to complete their 12 months rotatory internship within the declared time in order to gain eligibility for the entrance exam.

JIPMER PG is conducted twice a year for the applicants who wish to pursue MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Masters of Surgery) courses. Applicants who fail to meet any of the specified JIPMER PG eligibility criteria 2020 will not be allowed to appear for the online entrance exam.

Educational Qualifications

  • It is essential for the applicants to have MBBS or an equivalent degree that must be recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Nationality

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.​

For Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)

  • OCI applicants, registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955, are eligible to appear for JIPMER PG entrance exam 2020. However, during the counselling process, such applicants must submit proof of OCI registration under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955.

For Foreign Nationals

  • Foreign nationals can also apply for JIPMER PG 2019.

  • Foreign nationals must take prior permission from the Medical Council of India (MCI) before applying for PG course in JIPMER. Once the request is approved, foreign nationals are required to route their applications via the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.

Minimum Qualification

  • Applicants who belong to General and Other Backward Class categories should have at least 55% aggregate marks in their MBBS degree.

  • Applicants who belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories should have at least 50% aggregate marks in their MBBS degree.

  • For OPH (Orthopedic Physically Handicapped) applicants, the minimum aggregate marks prescribed for the above categories applies depending upon applicant's category.

Experience

  • Applicants applying for July 2020 session must complete their one-year Internship or Training before December 30, 2019, to be eligible to apply for JIPMER PG 2020.
