MICAT Syllabus 2025

MICAT 2025 syllabus is slightly different from many other management exams. Apart from Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and General Awareness, the MICAT exam encompasses three different sections with their own time limits:

Part 1: Psychometric test

Part 2: Descriptive Test

Part 3: Aptitude Test (Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness, and Divergent-Convergent Thinking)

To qualify for this examination, one has to prepare for the same in an organized and systematic manner. It is important for candidates preparing for MICAT 2025 to cover every topic thoroughly to score well in the exam. MICAT is not conducted just to offer admission to the PGDM-Communications program of MICA Ahmedabad but it is also a test of candidates' overall ability and skills. There is no official MICAT 2025 syllabus released by the conducting authority i.e. MICA. In this section of the exam,Descriptive questions are asked like essay writing, story writing as well as a passage arguing for or against a topic. Candidates will also get a set of pictures in the question papers from which they have to create a story.  This section of the MICAT 2025 exam will evaluate candidates' creative writing skills. To perform well in this section, candidates must develop a flair to write creatively.

Psychometric Test

The section aims to assess the personality of the candidate. Applicants are advised to be honest with their answers as more than evaluating the knowledge, this section assesses the personality.

Descriptive Test

This section is designed to judge the writing, language, and communication skills of an individual. A few elements that are kept in mind while assessing the performance of an aspirant are fluency, articulation, language, grammar, etc. Applicants need to be creative to attempt this section.

Verbal Ability

It is part of Section C of the MICAT Question Paper. Applicants are judged as per their Grammar and Vocabulary. Also, writing skills, vocabulary and language skills are considered while evaluating the performance.

General Awareness

Questions of General Awareness will be designed to check the general knowledge of an individual. Static GK or Current Affairs knowledge of the candidates is also judged.

Divergent and Convergent Thinking

Applicant's ability to apply structured thinking and reason logically are tested in the Divergent and Convergent parts. Candidates can enhance this section with regular practice.

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

The mathematical abilities are examined as part of Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. An individual must be very clear with the basics and fundamentals of maths.

Is the MICAT syllabus difficult for a non-engineering student?

Since MICAT is conducted for admission to the PGDM in Communications course, it is suitable for a candidate who has good writing skills and a flair for creativity. It provides no particular advantage or disadvantage to an engineering or non-engineering student. Students from every stream can easily appear for the exam.

Can I cover the complete syllabus of MICAT in 3 months?

Yes, it is possible to cover the MICAT syllabus in 3 months provided you work hard and are extremely dedicated towards your studies. You should have prior knowledge of the topics included in the syllabus which will help you in covering a vast portion of the syllabus in less time. Plus, you must also have a strong hold over basic concepts in a significant portion of the syllabus. 

Does the Divergent and Convergent Reasoning Section of MICAT have a vast syllabus?

The syllabus of the DCR section of MICAT can be said to be a bit vast as it includes a variety of topics such as Data Sufficiency, Visual Reasoning, Blood Relations, Arrangement and Series, Caselets, Syllogisms etc. However, if you have a basic understanding of the topics beforehand, it will be easy for you to complete the syllabus quickly. 

Which topics should I study for the General Awareness section in MICAT?

Current Affairs, Finance, History, Geography, Politics, Sports, Media, Advertising and Marketing are some of the topics from which questions are asked in the General Awareness section of MICAT. It is important to know both national and international current affairs as several questions are asked from there.

What topics are included in the syllabus of the Quantitative Ability section in MICAT?

The topics included in the Quantitative Ability section are Number System, Arithmetic, Algebra, Mensuration, Geometry, Modern Maths etc. Other topics that are included in the quantitative section are profit and loss, time and speed, time and work, average, mixture and allegation, functions, probability, mensuration and equations.

Which type of questions are asked in the Descriptive Test of MICAT?

The Descriptive Test of MICAT tests a candidate's creativity. The syllabus of this section includes Story Writing, Essay Writing and Argument Writing on a given topic. Topics are given on daily issues or current and social affairs. A short section will be given along with the questions where students to write their answers.

What is the syllabus of Psychometric Section of MICAT?

The syllabus of Psychometric Test section in MICAT includes three sets of question. It requires candidates to give a rating to certain situations and the other type of questions ask a candidate to analyze certain arguments and provide their responses related to their personality and provide responses related to their personality. Questions are based on human traits, contradictory statements and open-ended statements.

Which topics are included in the syllabus of Verbal Ability section in MICAT?

Some of the Verbal Ability topics included in the MICAT syllabus include Reading Comprehension, Sentence Correction, English Usage, Synonyms and Antonyms, Analogies etc. The vocabulary questions are context-based which means you will have to understand the situation and write the meaning of the words.

Is the MICAT syllabus same as that of other MBA exams?

MICAT has a slightly different syllabus than other management entrance exams. Dear Student,

Yes, there will be exam centres for MICAT, and candidates who register for the exam before the stipulated deadline will be issued the MICAT admit card. The hall ticket must be carried to the exam centre in order for a candidate to appear for the exam. The exam centre is allotted to candidates based on their preferences for the exam city as provided during the MICAT registration process.
