Is NExT Exam Pattern 2025 Changed?

NExT exam pattern 2025 is expected to be more extensive compared to the existing FMGE and NEET PG examinations for postgraduate medical courses. As per the NExT exam pattern, the exam will be conducted over three days instead of one and twice a year. The exam question paper will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), short-answer questions, and long-answer questions. The mode of the NExT examination will remain computer-based/ online. The NEXT 1 Paper question pattern consists of three main sections. As mentioned earlier, the NExT Step 1 exam consists of a total of 540 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The breakdown of NExT step 1 question pattern in the paper is as follows:

  • Problem-solving questions: This section covers 60% of the NExT paper and focuses on assessing the candidate’s ability to solve complex problems related to medical fields.
  • Comprehension and analysis questions: Approximately 30% of the paper consists of questions that test the understanding and analytical skills of the candidates. These question patterns include interpreting information, making connections, and drawing conclusions.
  • Recall, Basic Sciences, Preventive, and Public Health Questions: This section consists of 10% of the NExT 2025 Step 1 paper.
