CGPSC 2023 Exam Pattern

Before starting the preparations for the CGPSC State service exam 2023, candidates should get well aware of the SSE Exam Pattern. Knowing the exam pattern will certainly help the candidates to prepare a strategy that can help them ace the exam. CGPSC SSE exam is basically divided into three parts: Prelims, Mains, and Personality Test/ Interview. CGPSC Prelims is a computer-based test while the CGPSC SSE Mains exam is a descriptive paper that tests the interpretative skills of the candidates. The candidates can check the detailed exam pattern of the CGPSC SSE exam 2023 here. The Prelims and Mains exam patterns of the state service exam are different, and for the benefit of candidates, the CGPSC 2023 exam pattern has been mentioned in a simple format below.

CGPSC 2023 Prelims Exam Pattern

CGPSC SSE exam pattern for Prelims/ Preliminary exam can be checked below. The candidates must note that the Prelims exam is divided into Paper I & II. Paper I, also known as the GS Paper, is an important paper. It is included to prepare the final merit list of the recruitment cycle. Whereas Paper II, also known as the CSAT, is qualifying in nature and does not account for the final merit.  While the Paper I exam takes place in the Morning session (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM), Paper II exam takes place in the afternoon session, i.e., 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. CGPSC 2023 Prelims Cutoff

Only those candidates who have secured the minimum qualifying marks as specified below shall be declared ‘Pass’ in the Prelims exam of CGPSC SSE 2023 -

  • It is important to note that these are just the qualifying criteria on the basis of minimum marks. The cutoff released for the CGPSC SSE prelims exam may be much higher than the specified marks. CGPSC Prelims cutoff depends upon the difficulty of the papers, the total number of vacancies, etc.  
  • The candidates must note that the merit list for the Mains exam of SSE 2023 shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in Paper I, i.e., General Studies. 

CGPSC 2023 Mains Exam Pattern

Candidates who qualify the CGPSC Prelims exam are shortlisted for the further process of the exam. The next step after the prelims exam is the CGPSC SSE Mains Exam. CGPSC SSE Mains is also a written examination. Unlike, the Prelims paper, CGPSC Mains is a descriptive paper, which requires the analytical representation of the candidate's point of view. The CGPSC Mains exam pattern 2023 can be checked below -

CGPSC 2023 Personal Interview or Personality Test

The personality test/ Interview for CGPSC SSE is conducted for 150 marks. Candidates who are shortlisted, on the basis of their performance in Mains exam, shall be called for personality test or interview.
