The Himachal Pradesh University was established on 22nd July, 1970. It is located on Summer Hill, 5 kms from the main city, Shimla. The Himachal Pradesh University Business School (HPUBS) was formerly called the Institute of Management Studies. Himachal Pradesh University Business School stands to be the No. 1 B-School of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the first institutes to start MBA programme in the early 70s in the country.

Given below are the important highlights for HPU MAT 2025.

Himachal Pradesh University is responsible for prescribing the syllabus for HPU MAT 2025. HPU MAT is an objective type paper that tests candidates on the following topics:

• English- Comprehension and language

• General Awareness- Business environment and current affairs

• Quantitative Aptitude- Data interpretation and Arithmetic Comprehension

• Reasoning- Critical reasoning and General Intelligence

The HPU-MAT will have four sections:-

HPU MAT 2025 Marks Distribution

• Application Rating [10 % of the percentage of marks obtained in each of the following examinations] – 30 Marks
• HPU-MAT – 50 Marks
• Group Discussion – 10 Marks
• Personal Interview – 10 Marks

The HP University Business School, Shimla, admits 120 students for its MBA course. Out of which 60 seats are under subsidized category and 60 seats are under Non -subsidized category.

Candidates aspiring to pursue MBA courses at Himachal Pradesh University Business School (HPUBS) must fill out the HPU MAT 2025 Application Form. Candidates can apply online as well as offline for the HPU MAT exam 2025.

Documents Upload: Candidates are required to upload a scanned copy of the following documents in the given specifications:

• Passport-sized photograph of maximum 100 KB in .jpeg or .jpg format only.

• Signature of maximum file size 100 KB in .jpg or .jpeg format

Registration Fee: Candidates have to pay INR 1000 online through Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking.

It is mandatory for each new candidate to register themselves with basic information before filling out the application form. Candidates should log in with the credentials provided after the registration process. After logging in, they are required to fill out the application with valid details and pay the registration fee at the end online or offline (Demand Draft).

Candidates can only apply online for the HPU MAT examination by following the steps mentioned below:

• Visit the official website i.e. hpubsshimla.org 

• Click on the ‘ADMISSIONS’ section and register yourself through a valid e-mail ID

• Log in to fill out the application form.

• The online application form is divided into the following categories:

1. Personal information

2. Education and document details

3. Application Summary

4. Payment

5. Submit reference number and application form

6. After filling the details click on the SAVE button.

• Candidates will receive a system generated registration number and password in the given mobile number and email ID.

• Upload a scanned copy of the following documents in the given specifications:

1. Passport sized photograph of maximum 100 KB in .jpeg or .jpg format only.

2. Signature of maximum file size 100 KB in .jpg or .jpeg format

3. Marksheet/Certificate of 2 MB in PDF format.

• Pay the Application fee of INR 1000 online through debit/credit card or net banking.

Important Instructions to Fill HPU MAT 2025 Registration Form

• Candidates must check the status of the payment by logging in again and clicking on 'Go To the Payment'. They must select their payment mode and click on 'continue For Payments' then click on Check Payment Status.

• The photo should have a clear background, preferably white, with enough lighting and a focus on the face.

• In case of failure of fee from a debit card, candidates must contact customer care.

• Since corrections in HPU MAT 2025 registration form will not be allowed, it is imperative for the candidates to fill in entries carefully.

• Candidates should have completed their graduation with a minimum of 50 percent (45 percent for reserved category students) marks from a recognised university.
• Those who are in their final year of graduation and waiting for their results can also apply but they should be able to show the passing certificate at the time of admission.
• The maximum age limit for the course is 26 for boys and 28 for girls. SC/ST candidates (boys and girls both) can apply till the age of 29.

HPU MAT 2024 Reservation for admission to the MBA programme shall be subject to the following conditions:

• 15% and 7½ % seats shall be reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively, having domicile of Himachal Pradesh – irrespective of the Institutions from where they have passed their qualifying examination.

• The remaining 77 ½ % seats shall be filled up as under:

• 25% for all candidates irrespective of the Institution from where they have passed their qualifying- examination.

• 75% for the candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from the HP University or HP Krishi Vishwavidayalaya Palampur or Dr. Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, HP Technical University and Central University of Himachal Pradesh or the candidates who are Himachal Pradesh domicile irrespective of passing qualifying examination from any other University established by Law in India which is equivalent to the qualifying examination of Himachal Pradesh University, subject to the following reservations:

1. 5% of the seats shall be reserved for outstanding sportsmen/ women

2. 5% of the seats shall be reserved for outstanding cultural activists

3. 5% of the seats shall be reserved for persons with Disabilities

• One seat (Supernumerary) shall be reserved for the serving/ retired defence service personnel, if they fulfil the minimum eligibility conditions prescribed for admission.

• Two seats (Supernumerary) shall be reserved for the single Girl Child of Himachali Domicile. Applicants under this category must attach a certificate from the Executive Magistrate.

• Two seats (Supernumerary) shall be reserved for the J&K Domicile students. Applicants must attach the J&K domicile certificate.

• Three seats (Supernumerary) shall be reserved for the Ward of HP University employee in Non-Subsidised Category.

• HPU Business School will release the HPU MAT 2025 Exam Admit Card online. 

• Applicants will be able to download the Admit card through online mode only.

• To download the admit card, candidates can visit the official website, login with their HPU MAT registration id and password. 

• The HPU MAT 2025 admit card will be available for download soon after the registration ends.

• The HPU MAT 2025 admit card contains details such as Name, Roll Number, photograph, signature, examination schedule & examination center details, etc

• Candidates appearing for the HPU MAT 2025 Exam must carry valid Original admit cards with id proof. No candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam without the admit card.

• Candidates are advised to keep a copy of the admit card until the completion of the admission process as it’s required at every stage.

• Applicants who have successfully submitted their applications can only download the admit cards.

HPU MAT 2025 Result will be released on the official website of HP University. HPU MAT Result 2025 will be available online only. Applicants will have to log in with their registration number and date of birth in order to get their results. The HPU MAT 2025 result will display the overall score and rank of the candidates. Candidates qualifying for the HPU MAT 2025 Exam are called for the selection rounds – Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

The HP University will release the HPU MAT Cutoff 2025 after the declaration of the HPU MAT 2025 Result. HPU MAT Cut Off 2025 is the minimum marks that a candidate needs to score in order to get shortlisted for the admission process that includes GD and PI. 

HPU MAT Cut Off 2025 for all categories including General, SC, ST and Subsidised & Non-Subsidised seats has been released. 

The category-wise intake and the expected cutoff for HPU MAT 2025 are given in the table below:

HPU MAT 2025 Selection Process consists of Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).HPU MAT Counselling Process 2023 begins after declaration of the HPU MAT Result 2025 and HPU MAT 2025 Cutoff. Candidates are shortlisted in the first stage on the basis of cutoff. 

Then, the shortlisted candidates will appear for GD and PI. The final selection will be announced in July.

HPU MAT 2025 GD and PI Process

• Only the shortlisted candidates become eligible to appear for the HPU MAT 2025 GD and PI Process at HPU Business School. 

• HPUBS offers around 120 seats for its management programme including 60 for Subsidised categories and 60 for Non-Subsidised categories.

• The performance in HPU-MAT is the basis for screening the candidates for group discussion and personal interview. 

• Normally, three candidates for each seat are called for group discussion and personal interview. 

• The performance in the Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview and application rating will be the criterion for admitting the students. 

• The candidates for Non Subsidised Students compete among themselves, so is the case with the subsidized seats.
