IIFT 2024 Admission Process
The selection of candidates for admission to the IIFT MBA (IB) - Full Time for the academic year 2024-26 is influenced by several factors in addition to IIFT’s Written Examination scores, Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD)/Extempore and Personal Interview (PI) scores. These parameters include Academic Consistency, Academic Diversity, Gender Diversity, and Work Experience. The admission process will be carried out in two phases which are mentioned below.
Shortlisting of Candidates for WAT-GD/Extempore-PI
According to the percentiles obtained on the IIFT entrance test, including sectional cut-offs, candidates will be narrowed down for WAT-GD/Extempore-PI. Depending on the number of candidates who will be shortlisted and the number of available seats, the minimum cut-off percentage is determined. In accordance with the IIFT's policy on gender diversity, the cut-off scores for female candidates in all categories are two points lower than the actual cut-off. Marks earned in Classes X and XII will be taken into consideration in addition to the previously mentioned requirement. Up to 5 points may be given to non-engineers in order to maintain a balanced class composition at IIFT. The table below mentions the Stage 1 shortlisting parameters and their respective weightages:
Parameter | Weightage |
---|
IIFT Score | 73 |
Class 10th Marks | 10 |
Class 12th Marks | 10 |

For the purpose of final selection, IIFT scores will be given the highest weight possible, along with additional criteria such as academic consistency, academic diversity, gender diversity, and job experience. The candidate must also appear for the following stages of selection:
Writing Ability Test (WAT): In this round, essays on predetermined topics must be submitted by the shortlisted candidates. The grading for the WAT round will mostly be focused on readability, comprehension, presentational style, and idea expression.
Group Discussion (GD): During the Group Discussion round, shortlisted candidates must hold group discussions on a predetermined subject. The ability of the candidate to exhibit leadership abilities, team player skills, communication, content, and the ability to provide fresh perspectives on the topic will be evaluated during the Group Discussion round of the selection process.
Personal Interview (PI): In this round of the selection process shortlisted candidates must show up for a face-to-face interview. The candidate's academic, extracurricular, and analytical performance are taken into account in the evaluation.
Every segment of the IIFT selection process has its own weightage when considered for the final selection of candidates. Candidates must be aware of these parameters and their corresponding weights, in order to gauge their performance accordingly. Here are the weightages of all the parameters considered for the final selection of candidates for the MBA-IB (Full Time) program at IIFT:
