OUAT Eligibility Criteria 2025

OUAT Eligibility Criteria: The OUAT 2025 exam will likely take place in May 2025. The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology will provide the eligibility criteria in the official notification.

Before filling out the OUAT 2025 application form, applicants must understand the eligibility criteria described in the brochure. The OUAT eligibility criteria include the academic qualifications, age limits, and other requirements for admission to OUAT. OUAT B.Sc (Hons.) courses in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, and Community Science require a PCM or PCB at +2 level or equivalent exam. BVSc, AH, and BFSc applicants must have a +2 in PCM Science or an equivalent course with a minimum mark of 50%, according to OUAT 2025 requirements.

B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture OUAT Eligibility Criteria 2025

B.Sc. (Hons.) programs require a combination of either P.C.M or P.C.B in +2 Science; those lacking Mathematics or Biology must complete prerequisite courses. The eligibility criteria for B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture/ B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture/ B.Sc (Hons) Forestry/B.Sc (Hons) Community Science is mentioned below:

B.F.Sc. requires P.C.B; B.V.Sc & A.H necessitates P.C.B/Biotechnology; and B.Tech (Agril. Engg.) requires P.C.M. The eligibility criteria for B.F.Sc is mentioned below:

  • Qualification: Applicants must have at least completed their class XIIth studies from any recognized Board with a minimum aggregate of 50% combining all the subjects.
  • Age: Students should be at least 17 years old as of 31 December 2025.
  • Compulsory Subjects: Applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology compulsorily at the qualifying exam level.
  • Marks: Applicants must score at least 50% marks and for SC/ST/PwD/PMSSS (for B.Sc (Hons) Ag at CA, BBSR) / Kashmiri Migrant /Kashmiri Pundit (Non-Migrant) /Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrant) applicants, the minimum qualifying exam marks are 40%. 

OUAT Eligible Student Categories

  1. Students who passed H.S.C. with Odia as M.I.L. from Odisha schools do not need to submit a Residential Certificate.
  2. Students without Odia as M.I.L. whose parents are permanent residents of Odisha must provide residency proof.
  3. Students whose parents work for the Govt. of Odisha/Central Govt. or institutions in Odisha must submit a certificate from their employer.
  4. Odia students residing outside Odisha must provide proof of Odisha origin.

OUAT 2025 Reservation Criteria

Students who need a reservation must show original certificates from an authorized source during counselling and admission. If students do not provide these documents, they will not be admitted to that category. Also, if students fail to provide any required original documents throughout the admission process, including the counselling process, they will be denied admission.

Reservation for SC & ST Students 

  • 8% seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 12% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students by birth.
  • An original SC/ST certificate from the Revenue Officer is required at counselling/admission.

Reservation for Green Card Holders 

  • 5% of seats are reserved for children of Green Card holders.
  • An original Green Card is needed for admission, and any forgery will lead to disqualification.

Reservation for Persons with Disability (PwD) 

  • 5% of the seats are reserved for PwD students.
  • An original PwD certificate is required with a minimum 40% disability. Temporary disabilities require a review certificate.

Reservation for Wards of Armed Forces Personnel (AFP) 

  • 3% of seats are reserved for wards of both serving and retired armed forces personnel.
  • An Original Bonafide Certificate from the Rajya Sainik Board is needed for admission.

Reservation for Western Odisha Students 

  • Specific seats are reserved for students from Western Odisha for B.Sc.(Hons.) Horticulture.
  • A permanent residential certificate from a Revenue Officer is required to claim this reservation. 

OUAT Eligibility Exemptions

These provisions do not apply to ICAR/VCI/Foreign students, state government-sponsored students, children of O.U.A.T employees, J&K students under PMSSS, and Kashmiri migrant/non-migrant families.  No affidavits will be accepted for any of the stated categories.

All students mentioned below are not required to appear for the OUAT UG Entrance Examination - 2025, and interested students must submit Form-A and Form-B online for admission.

Foreign Students

  • 3% of total seats are available for foreign students sponsored by ICAR/ICCR or other statutory bodies, provided they meet eligibility criteria and possess valid documents.
  • Non-sponsored foreign students can apply directly to the university. They do not have to take the OUAT exam. 

UTs of J & K and Ladakh Under PMSSS

  • 10 supernumerary seats are reserved for students from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS). Admission is based on AICTE's merit list from 12th class examinations, and students do not need to apply directly to OUAT.

Kashmiri Migrants

  • 1 seat is reserved for children of Kashmiri migrants in each course at the College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar. Applicants must submit a migrant certificate and do not need to take the entrance examination.

Kashmiri Pandits/Non-Migrants

  • 1 seat is available for children of Kashmiri Pandit (Non-Migrants) or Kashmiri Hindu families in each course, with a required domicile certificate. Applicants must apply online and will be selected based on marks from 10th and +2 Science.

Govt. of Odisha Sponsored Students 

  • 6 seats in B.Sc (Hons.) Agriculture, two in B.Sc (Hons.) Horticulture and two in B.F.Sc. are available for State Government-sponsored students who have +2 Science qualifications. 
  • Admissions will be based on a seniority list submitted by the concerned government department by 04.08.2025, with admission occurring on 14.08.2025. 
  • No entrance exam is required, and no course/college changes will be permitted.

OUAT Employee Reservation 

  • 2% of total seats (minimum one) in each college are reserved for children of OUAT employees on a cost-sharing basis. 
  • Applicants must present a certificate from the Registrar at the time of counselling.

NRI/PIO Sponsored Students 

  • 60 seats are reserved for NRI/PIO sponsored students across various programs in multiple colleges, based on a cost-sharing arrangement. 

Students applying for the NRI/PIO Sponsored Quota must follow certain rules outlined in and provide the necessary documents during counselling and admission. These include:

Required Documents: 

  • Photocopies of your Visa or proof of Permanent Residence.
  • A sponsor's passport (parent or relative), which must be valid until the admission date.
  • Recent proof of residence (like utility bills) from the last six months.
  • Sponsorship certificate (Annexure-III).

Signature Verification: The sponsor’s signature must match the signature on the passport and the sponsorship certificate.

Document Language: All documents must be in English and issued by the relevant embassy or consulate.

Online Visa: If you submit an online Visa, it must be signed by the embassy.

Sponsorship Limitations: An NRI/PIO can sponsor only one candidate each academic year. The sponsor must be a blood relative, and the relationship must be documented in the Sponsorship Form (Annexure-III), along with proof from a government agency or an affidavit.

Admission Process for Agro-Polytechnic Graduate Students of OUAT

There will be a separate exam for these students on 7th July 2025. The exam will have multiple-choice questions in English and will last for two hours. It will cover topics from their AgroPolytechnic syllabus and is worth 200 marks.

In case of tie scores, preference is given based on Entrance Exam marks, Diploma marks, +2 Science marks, and 10th-grade marks, with older students being prioritized if ties persist.

10% of the intake capacity in various UG courses is reserved for these students.

The Seat distribution is mentioned below: 

  • 12 seats in B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture (4 each at three colleges)
  • 4 seats in B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture 
  • 2 seats in B.F.Sc. 
  • 2 seats in B.V.Sc. & A.H.

Selection is based on a merit list calculated using the following weightage: 

  • 10% from 10th grade 
  •  10% from +2 Science 
  •  30% from the Diploma in Agro-Polytechnic 
  •  50% from the Entrance Examination.

How many seats are reserved for PwD category students in the OUAT entrance exam?

5% of the seats are reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD). Students applying under this category must show their original PwD certificate issued by the appropriate authority during counselling and admission.
